Spent entirely too much money...

All lighting upgraded-

JW Speaker headlights
New OEM front turns and rear lights
Rigid 40" light bar
Rigid Dually D2 lights for peripheral lighting at night
Rigid Dually diffused lights for reverse

4+ rear swingout
4+ sliders
4+ dual battery trays
4+ rear light guards
BFG KM2's 35"
Hi Lift

Cut out center support for my rack to flush mount the 40" light

Are the front turn signals Toyota ? How much ?

Did some more work on the brakes. Installed wheel spacers on one side to see how it would look. I think I went to wide for running 33 x 10.5 tires in the future? Went back to brakes..cursed at it...then put it back to bed.

Nice! 33s?

Yep, nothing like a little rubber overdrive. 3.70 diffs helped also. I'll take a picture of it here at the rig tomorrow when it's light.

Took the top off yesterday. I am sure it's a little early, but it's been mid 70's and I couldn't stand it anymore. Was going to drive it all weekend... but I drove up to the house from the shed and the throttle stuck. Checked and looked and the cable was frayed so bad it was hanging on by one thread. :(

No one in town had one (Duh) so I just ordered it. Super bummed, it's going to be another nice weekend and I was looking forward to driving my cruiser around.

Love this rig. What carb are you running?

Thanks! Carb is the original bone-stock Aisan. I de-smogged the 2F myself and just plugged-off the unused ports but no other changes. In fact, the secondary diaphragm is not functioning at all and I need to replace that.

Took a look at this FJ 45 today, Couldn't find a VIN # on it. Seller said it is a 1980 ...
I don't know anything about FJ45s (except that I want one), what do the more informed think?

Didn't have a lot of time today, will go back next week, $6k negotiable....

Decided to put my bender to work and build a nose guard. I know it's not original but I like the looks of it. Shh don't tell MetalT@ch.:D

Looks good Mike!

Have you got it out to wheel yet?

I should have my 40 drivable in a month or so!

Wheelable not so much.....Goal is by the classic, hopefully a few shake down runs beforehand. Cheers!

Hi dragoncruiser.

Is that a diesel badge on the grille? (Hard to tell for sure.) If so then it'll probably be an HJ45P (where the P stands for pickup). And that would be a big plus...

And that square bezel should make it a 1979 or 1980 model too.

Of course I dislike the non-original blinkers.

And it can't be being driven much with those windscreen wipers like that.

And the glossy new paint is saying to me that it's probably hiding dark secrets.....

I'd try and find the chassis number stamped on the RH chassis rail just behind the front bumper and if that numbers gone I wouldn't touch the vehicle no matter what price they're offering it at.

The chassis number should be found at the same place as on my BJ40 here:
ChassisNumber1.JPG
ChassisNumber2.JPG

The rear springs look very heavy to me so I'd say you'll really feel the bumps unless you have a heavy load in the back.

PS. I wonder if we all have a tendency to be overly negative when asked for our opinions on someone's prospective purchase ....:hmm:

Thanks a lot for the great advice. I realize that this truck needs some work, but this is also what I am looking for. I want to do a poor man's version of the Icon truck:

This is the best one I have seen for sale around here in Nicaragua so far. Most of them look pretty beat up like this one:

Will go there again next week with plenty of time to check it out.
Any other things I should look for?

You could always make one out of a bike Brake Cable, and a couple of other bike brake parts... At least till you could get your hands ona stock one.

Some bike shops can even weld/braze/silver solder a new end onto a cable... Thereby rebuilding your old cable.:hmm:
