Just been driving my 40 today and yesterday with just a bikini top and 1/2 soft doors(been that way all winter!)The 71F engine I swapped in a wile ago is running great and is shifting smooth(all 3 speeds!)Breaks also work very good, love the new rear discs.I finally finished up&got dialed in.Man it's coming together, the more I drive it the better it seems to run!!!

Finally put some gas in the tank(fuel gauge not working,so I have to do the slosh test, rock truck a little to listen for gas!)Beautiful weather, spring is coming in nice here in the Santa Cruz mountains.Picked up my son and a friend fri.from the local middle school. They rode in the back jump seats sittin in the sun and having fun.

What makes it more fun in the school traffic is cruising past all the soccer mom mini vans and cars!We then hit up the skate park(did the same today) and cruised up to Boulder Creek.Very cool little towns up here.If any cruiser folks want to come up this way sometime hit me up.I would love to do a little run up here. There is some wheeling also but mostly privte property.I know of a few good little areas(fire roads)

No kidding. I was just thinking about putting the hard top on a few days ago and just desided not to bother becuase in another month or so I'll just want it back off. I can just tarp it for now if it ever rains again this "winter".

I drove into town day before yesterday with half doors and no top and I was wearing shorts and a t shirt and quite comfy.

I am working on a couple of mini projects right now. None even close to finished becuase I get side tracked and work on something else everyday instead of just finishing one and moving to the next. I'm building a hi-lift holder to go behind my tire, need to finish the half doors (mostly just carpet the inside and sand and paint them), and I am rebuilding my steps with square tube so people will stop bending them when they step on them and think they will actually hold weight. Then I'll cut the sides off the original steps and weld them onto the tube fram so it will look mostly stock if you didn't look close.

I installed stainless hex bolts on the rear hinges and doors.
I installed OEM emblems on the rqp's.
Fixed a bulb issue in my instrument cluster.
Fixed a couple or rattles and squeaks in the interior.
I bought some stainless screws and installed the original shifting plate on the glove box.
I adjusted the latch on the glove box.
I replaced the screws on the wiper mounts with grade 8 machine screws.
I replaced the screws on the on the side vent windows with grade 8 machine screws.
About to replace the gaskets on the sending unit and fuel pump.
I bought some gussets to fill some holes in the body panels (antenna, license plate)
Re-installed the door locks on the drivers side door and the ambulance doors.

I've been busy.

Had to rebuild my passenger rear marker light. The previous owner half assed repaired the wiring. Now its better than factory and working perfectly. Also shot some Seafoam down the old quadrajet just to clean it up a bit.

Removed the rear seats, speakers, and roll bar to finally paint cargo area the same color as the dash. Found some potentially serious rust under the roll bar mounts.. gotta investigate those more once its light outside

Installed new rear / reverse / utility lights...hooked them up with a manual switch instead of on the shifter so I can keep them on when dealing with trailer, etc...

Also, tried out the new rear fold & tumble seat.

I was able to put a good days work in on the cruiser.
Installed power steering cooler
Changed motor oil, tranny and tcase oil
made a :hillbilly: console that turned out pretty good for the hole 16.00 I have in it
Waiting for the new clutch slave and master cyclinder to show up.
After that I should be ready for the summer :steer:

Capped the ends of rear bumper I am building for my 40. Set plans to work on it on 24th. Planning on fixing the brake line and getting it running again. Will be the first time getting it mobile in like 5 years. Not inspectable yet but soon. Have to weld on the rear bumper / swingout tire carrier on. Then mount the led lights in the rear and wire them.

Converted my bumper to hold my craigslist find. Used the mounting box to mount an 8274 to a non 8274 to plate, I used it to put inside my bumper, will give it a lot more strength, as well as protect anything from hitting the bottom of it. Still need to clean the winch up, but wanted to get the mounting part done.
