It’s funny what tempts the eye. I’m drawn to the minimalist look of the throwback round lamps. But, at the end of the day when you’re pulling down the garage door, it’s your eye that matters.

Got her out for a little spin before heading back on the tug ran really good a millions things I need to do but all is well
Fitting up patched and repaired parts for the third time. Threw the dice on a TN rear lift gate. Seems decent but could’ve done without the hammer marks on the hidden area. Oh well, way better than welding for another weekend.
Unsure how much is enough on the body lines but getting close now!! Just transmission cover repair then Paint next.

What… you’re not separating the inner and outer frame rails? Clearly you’re still safe.
I haven’t done a frame off restoration… just a rolling restomod that includes scrapping my rusted out frame and replacing it with a newer one that I’d sandblasted, and painted. On paper it’s the same 40… just replaced almost everything. It still has the original cowl, windshield frame, front heater, and front doors.
Been there… done that. Do I still get the t-shirt? Someone said there’s a t-shirt…

This build will be a little different, I’ll try to save most of the exterior paint. J Ward calls them derelict, maybe it’ll be a degenerate.

If not now… after starting with a 1.5F and now being on the second SBC (used runners)… once the nicer front doors & rear hatch, Safari Snorkel, TPI, and seat covers on the 4th set of front seats… will surely do it. If I have to I’ll make my own.
Perhaps with a picture of a 40 completely disassembled and a caption, “I hope I can remember how this all goes back together”
I decided it was safer to lift the body up with the engine hoist and roll the frame & drivetrain under it. Rather than trying to roll the engine hoist around while the body was swinging in the breeze.

At the 11 or 12 year mark, a wedding, career change, two kids and three houses later…I was able to admit the error. The allure of just buying a runner won and now I have two!
I’m not sure if that was the right call, but at least I’m on the road!

More LC always the right call lol. It’s tough to peel away from life to build a 40. They’ll try the patience of experienced builders. Seem like a simple vehicle but there are some definite nuances.
