The angle extends down then goes horizontal. The bright red is the fender. Pardon the crappy pics.

Ah, thank you!!

Just follow the angle down to meet the horizontal bottom of the rocker. Easy peasey.

Interesting there is a gap between the vertical bottom section of the fender and the body by design, but I guess the step covers it.

The fender bolts the frt of the step, the step then bolts along the bottom vertical part of the rocker and frame extentions.

Hey Malleus, its been a while and thanks for the call out. I check this thread fairly often, but not recently enough to have seen post #39,496.

@Augustiron, regarding your question "I also have to extend the tub where it meets the fender", I have inserted two pics below, but there are more photos of repairs that I made to the lower cowl corner on post #24 of my 1977-fj40-rebuild-focus-on-custom-stainless-tub thread. I also believe I have a drawing of this patch panel and will post dimensions if I can find it.

I have found the drawing and added some dimensions to it. Pretty simple, but hopefully this helps. I should have also drawn a dimension line in the lower right corner to make it more clear the the side to side length of 13.25 includes a 1" lip that should be bent. All of the other bends are also 1". [Edit] - I have updated the drawing...

Not nearly as much done lately as I would like, but figured I’d at least post my Aug 1976 on page 1976 😎

Got my top back on for winter… although I may have drug my feet and waited too late. 😁

I picked up a well loved horse farm truck whose PO started a “restoration” before passing away. They’d owned it since 1985. It had been sitting in the lean to I (and a few good friends/ bad influences) pulled it out from under for who knows how long. Along with mice droppings and nest material, the ashtray was still full of his salems (even found a few still in the pack on the floor), and a bunch of the parts I had noticed were missing when I went to look at it last weekend.

Even though my 1967 has a 2F and 4 speed, the 1978 seems very, very different. While I originally wanted parts off of it, it’s so complete that it deserves to be revived and live on. So that’s the plan now.

Before/ after the hotsy bath.
