Still amazing? Did you check the date on the serial number?

Ya I did. They looked funny and I saw the date of manufacture when I went to air them down. It was 2002 which is week 20 of year 2002.

What I did is in this thread.

Here is a teaser though.

No pics but finished up the SBC swap and drove it for the first time since it dropped a valve in the 1f a month ago

Finally spent some quality time with my other lover!!
- installed new head (2F) from Mark's Off Road and replaced my rocker assembly. Lots of oiling going on now!!
- bead blasted exhaust manifold and intake. Had both ceramic coated at Performance Coatings in Auburn, WA
- had new 2 1/2" stainless exhaust built and installed by Stan's Headers in Auburn WA w/new Magnaflow muffler
- rebuilt my Aisan carb ( twice 2 different kits since they were diff. from the original parts)
- couldn't figure out my idle circuit (yes replaced solonoid with OEM 2 wire) and so bought a replacement carb from Marks Offroad. S/b here in a few days
- installed 2nd battery and isolator and...power inverter under passenger seat. (500 watt)
- new 4 core radiator installed
- new fuel filters on both tanks

Last 2 months:
- 2 1/2" OME Heavy leafs all around
- Bilsteins on all 4 corners
- Roof Top Tent and Awning from Cascadia Vehicle Tents
- Aerobed in the RTT that is remote control in the tent

- Camping and exploring every weekend with my Princess!!
- In the end....I am really happy !!!

Well I finally got my wheels back from being blasted and powdercoated so I had the new shoes put on. I think they look pretty good with the new hub covers. Also, I installed some new OEM side mirrors and put my bumperettes back on. I had them powdercoated as well. The color isn't spot on, but it's good enough for me. Finally, I sanded and painted my new window regulators from CCOT. I don't know what they were thinking with the color they were, but even my wife asked if they were supposed to be "gold." HAHA....ummm, no! Again, not spot on "pewter" but I like this color better. Anyways, enjoy the pics. I think it's coming along:

Dang those pics are large...sorry Mods!

Ended Engine Over-heating

Installed my home made fiberglass shroud based on the excellent instructions found here: DIY Fan Shroud - Do It Yourself Hot Rod Kustom Website

Looks pretty good I think.

Previously my SBC would overheat while sitting in traffic on any day much warmer than mid eighties. NO MORE! Drove it extensively last weekend when outside temps were in the nineties. Gauge never went above 190 degrees. Very happy :)

Nice rig! Ouray Co is a great area. I use to live in the San Juan Mountains near Mesa Verde. Great backroads all throughout southwest Colorado. Hovenweep National Monument is another good spot in Utah, not far from Co border. PERFECT FJ40 country!

Thanks. I grew up in Colorado and lived in Utah for a number of years too, and get back to both places whenever I can. I agree the Western Slope and southern Utah is perfect 40 country.
