I Replace the old worn out WARN winch motor with a new unit, clean up all the electrical resealed the housing, change the oil, and managed to pop on a new plastic cover. This should be good for another 30 years now!

This winch predates the 8274 as it does not have a free spool clutch.

The old motor gave up the ghost after a cruiser saving long hard winch pull up a Sanddune that I was precariously hanging off of. The old girl pulled me off the dune on the level sand and then Breathed through last.

The front end of an FJ40 and an 8274 winch or perhaps one of the most iconic combinations in all of automotive history if you ask me.

I took apart the rear driveshaft and found that the PO had installed it misaligned, also the pinion nut and transfer case nut were way out of torque spec, too loose. I also greased everything and my vibration and grinding problem is gone had her up to a smooth 100kmh which was unimaginable yesterday.

Put this under Iron Yak build thread. Still not sure about weather or not to post in both places.
I have been acquiring items for a tool bag for a while now. Bought a partial set of tools that came with a Toyota Bag that I haven’t seen before Which is tan in color. I also bought a dark waxed canvas roll up bag.
Had my local embroidery shop scan images from Toyota bag and stitch into new bag. I am really happy with the result.

Someone should make/sell these bags with the custom Toyota embroidery

Accomplished a few things today... re-installed gauge cluster, trans tunnel, and gas tank. Only problem is my gas tank straps are over an inch too short! What am I doing wrong? The tank is seated properly. What am I missing?
