What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (37 Viewers)

Put in a little more work into my hardtop sides. Not done but good looking from a distance. Sprayed with a rattle can. After this just the doors will be left with the mustard color and I'll get to those later this summer.

An engine stand would have saved your back
just curious, how would one attach it to an engine stand with the bellhousing still attached? - F motor

you cant get the bellhousing off with the flywheel attached,
have to remove the clutch assembly to remove the flywheel,
I broke 2 universal socket adapters (and my hand) trying to get the top 2 clutch assembly bolts out.
seized motor doesn't allow you to rotate the flywheel to get to said bolts.....

lay it on the ground and do work

Tried to get this up last night before the new week started because I should have more porn this week.

So... I haven't tested it's power yet because I've got something missing with the connectors. But!
I'm pretty happy with the way this ugly monster looks now!

Don’t forget about those 2 wires that are mysteriously crisscrossed in the connector.

I finished the replacement fuse panel for my '71 FJ40, including loading up the fuses. Many years ago I parted out an '81 Toyota pickup at the County landfill, back when you could scavenge (I also parted out a '69 FJ55 :)). I had the pickup wiring harness stored in my garage and basement since then (the partial FJ55 harness went to a MUD member in Colorado). I decided to use the fuse panel and many of the wires and connectors in my '71 FJ40 build. I harvested some fuse clips from a mid-'70s FJ40 and reused some of the pickup fuse clips. And I fabricated a mounting plate that will relocate the fuse panel using the stock bolt locations on the firewall. The new fuse panel will clear the accelerator pedal, the parking brake assembly, and the defrost hose.

The larger fuse panel allowed me to add circuits for the FJ60 tachometer, the FJ60 carburetor cooling fan system, and the Celica clock. And I was able to provide separate fuses for some of the stock circuits, quite a few of which were doubled up.

Had to revert to indoor work today - it's snowing again :-).

Pulled it out of the way to finish splitting wood, then a trip to town for ice cream with the family!

I love the look of your landcruiser. And I'm partial to the bull bar because I have the same or similar one.

My wife was just talking about how stout that deer killer bar is, she is thinking it would hold up pretty well to a good deer collision.

I mentioned that I didn’t want to test it out, especially at 60mph.

Been working on the top cap mostly getting the headliner installed... Waiting for the wrinkles to fade out before gluing.
So I figured I'd get the drivers seat installed and throw the steering wheel on and take my very first seat in this cruiser. With the seat all the way back, feels real comfy!!
This is my first bench seat rig, and love the way it feels. Like a built in arm rest....
Anyhoo, moving forward!

The boys and I are always vigilant for ways to make 44 more livable. Since, my MegaMat always rides on the PS, I've been a little leery of pinching a hole into it, while closing the console. I never lock the console anyway... nothing of value, in it, to steal.

I very seldom reinstall the PS seat, but have to be able to reinstall it, should the need arise. So, everything, on the PS side has to be modular and easily removable.

We didn't/don't know exactly what we want, in the center... just that we want a comfortable arm rest and a specific place to carry my fire extinguisher and first aid kit.

So, rather than spend a lot of time on this, we threw together a rough prototype, using the following criteria:

  • Comfortable armrest.
  • Comfortable place to rest a wary dog chin... or two
  • Night stand
  • Card table
  • TV tray
  • First aid kit storage
  • Fire extinguisher mount
We'll drive with it and see how we like it.

If it passes the test, we'll build/paint a better one... if not, we'll use the prototype until we get tired of it, or figure out what we want.

Pick up some shiny new brake lines thanks to Rainman (and a few dollars). I also pulled my knuckles apart for an axle rebuild. I feel like there should be some official badge bestowed upon members after showing evidence they’ve been elbow deep in knuckle grease. It actually IS as nasty as everyone says it is.

Hey @thecrazygreek ....it's looking good! I've also been working on the wrinkles before I install the headliner, 6 weeks hanging flat over a railing (very little help), spent about an hour with a steam machine (helped alot, but there still there), and carefully have tried a hair dryer (maybe it helps, but I get leery of the heat). What are you trying?
Thanks,

I disassembled a Bic ink pen to salvage the spring and use it in my carb. rebuild since I damaged the tiny spring prt # 21864-26020 used in the pump stopper. Item 21575B circled in green in parts blow out att

Man, that set up is so cool. Hopefully one day I’ll get my cruiser sorted well enough to build something similar.

I here you!!!
I don't think these wrinkles are ever going to come out...
I used heat gun, etc, which helps but still have fold lines. I think I'm going to just say f it and start to glue it down. I Imagine that will help, plus time in the rig should do the trick.
Waiting on the wrinkles has set me back a few days...
