A little embarrassed to admit, but I went a little nuts.
Debated about the whole fridge or freezer Q on the road,
trying to keep some stuff frozen without exploding cans etc.

National Luna 60L Twin solves this with two sides & separate temp controls.
Does fridge/freezer...fridge/fridge....or freezer/freezer.
Major splurge. Ouch $. But I hate buyer's remorse & buying stuff twice.

This will delay my gears/lockers a bit, bc my mod fund is wimpy but needed fridge for baja & I think we'll be happy with this for many moons.

FWIW, it's more difficult to transport body parts with the divided fridge/freezer. You end up losing a lot of the utility of the long 63Q opening. But even with the 63Q, femur sections can be tricky to fit.

I don’t want to be a Debbie downer but I have the National Luna in my truck. For my use case at least, I didn’t use the freezer much. Or at least at full freeze. I find that the fridge can comfortable hold enough beer, water and food for about 4 days. For 4 days worth of protein, I didn’t need it that low. Just low enough not to spoil. I found a sweet spot that kept frozen meat frozen but didn’t explode beers. I use that for both sides. Reason being. I don’t need that much freezer space.

Down side is the obvious wasted space of insulation between sides. I went with a single temp ARB for the LC because the National Luna requires seat removal to take out, so its a permanent fixture in my Tundra.

Also keep in mind that unlike a cooler, you only need to keep one day of drinks in the fridge (load up fresh the next morning when there is ample engine power to absorb the heat load). I say that because I used to load it up with liquids and then get tight on space. You all are probably a lot brighter than me and already have this figured out...

How are you going to keep your butter pecan, truffle, ice cream cold? Or how are we going to keep our ice cubes fresh for our Macallan 18? We are fancy 200 series drivers after all.

I think for longer boondocking trips, a separate freezer would be very useful for me personally. Not 100% necessary but useful. Just my opinion though.

I’m sure you’re bigger than me but if you put ice in Mac 18, I may have to hurt you. Hahaha. I had scotch with a client and I almost dick punched him when he asked for a splash of coke with a Mac 18.

I do drop a cube or two in my 'cheap' Marker's Mark though, brings out the flavor. I see the kids at the store on-base buying single barrel with coke all the time. I was young and dumb once, ONCE.

Ya, I've thought of that...buuuuut...it's literally a couple button presses and I can have fridge/fridge. If nothing else, though, having a lid-covered fridge side also means I'm not leaking more cold hair than necessary when I open the fridge, so it will help with wasted power when I'm not rolling.

I agree that most of the time, I won't need 25L of frozen. I suspect many trips, NOTHING will be frozen. But it also means I have the option of my wife's favorite Coffee Ice Cream...so she MIIIIIIGHT even agree to camp with me in the Moab heat...

For Baja, I'll be taking a microwave (really roughing it, aye?) and several favorite food items that need to stay frozen. So this will be perfect for that. Once my frozen crap is eaten, I can fridge/fridge it...Or...If I catch some killer fish that I want to take home (wishful thinking, right?)...into the freezer they can go and I won't have to smell it all week.

PS. They now have hinge replacements that allow you to completely remove the top...so I can still use it without seat removal...but I agree...it is TALL. Taller than I'd prefer...but so be it.

On the other hand...just wedge a burger in foil between the engine cover and engine block when wheeling and it'll be hot in a jiffy.

For the time being, I'm pretty happy with the compact microwave that still fits a full-size plate...doesn't strain my SW inverter yet still cranks 1200W cooking power. Takes about 13-1400W total to run...but 1200W of that is cooking power which is pretty good for its size.
Basically I just want to re-heat lasagna or home-made stroganoff we take along & we're eating in three minutes.

**I'm also hooked on these Costco Shrimp Wan-tan Ramen soup bowls that start out frozen. Throw a couple blobs of sour cream and a couple spoon-fulls of Yoshida's Gourmet Sauce and slice the noodles up with kitchen shears and in 4 minutes...I'm a happy boy!! My freezer side will have a mess o those...

For 6 months in Brazil I survived on Corn Flakes, boxed milk & watermelon.
Not too hard to please. But if I can do something better it in 5-10 minutes or less? -<OMNOMNOMNOM...

My cooking
Too spicy? Add sour cream.
Too hot? Add sour cream.
Too bland? Add Yoshida's Gourmet Sauce (Costco).

Food just tastes like crap? No problem.
...add Sour Cream *AND* Yoshida's Gourmet sauce!
