Is the purpose of that flat panel design to limit points were a car wash or treat branches could get stuck? I like the design. I've looked at that exact roof rack myself.
I think it's for more floorspace and different types of attachment points to secure gear to the rack. I bought it because it fits between the OEM rails and for the full floor versus crossbars. I think there are better options for more functional racks that have a ton of accessories and purpose built attachments (like Frontrunner, Rhino rack, etc.) but I didn't like how those looked on the LC. hope that helps.

What products did you use? Want to do the same to mine.
I’ve been using CarPro products for just about everything car detailing related for a while now and have been happy with it, these are the two leather cleaner/lotion I used today.

I also picked up some Lithium Leather Love that was recommended by another mudder but my seats looked so good I just stuck with what I’ve been using. I do think I should do this more than once every year or so but not daily driving this Cruiser really helps with the overall seat wear. It spends the vast majority of it’s life in the garage so heat cycles and UV are low. The 10k miles it does annually are concentrated in a dozen or so camping trips and outdoorsy related drives.

My 200 is straight up abused compared to 99% of others.

All the leather looks brand new new except the driver seat lower cover.

Soccer cleats, snacks. Drinks.

It doesn’t care.
I may get to this point eventually and it’s good to hear it will stand this level of use. However, I just couldn’t bring myself to strap in car seats and wild boys back there with their sticks, rocks, and filthy hiking boots. Those Equip seat covers are doing some serious work, I think the front seats would be fine but the backs with my boys…. Id wager they can break an anvil so I’ll continue to be overprotective for the time being.

I cringe every time my kids crawl in the back of the 200. For the simple fact as you stated, they are just hard on 💩.

That being said I would also leave the rear covers on since you have them.

The front I say peel off the covers and enjoy

Use it. Like Zuckerman says who are you saving it for? The next owner?

The next owner will be the scrap yard. It gets used hard.

I really should take better care of it. With 4 kids a career, and a want for adventure/ family time I just neglect it.

It does get a car wash a few times a year, and I clean the interior out sometimes.

It’s still 200% cleaner inside than the wife’s Sequioa.

Women keep their cars filthy and I will die on the hill of defending that stereotype.

Here's a few leather car products that I trust:
  1. Leatherique
  2. Leather Honey
  3. COLOURLOCK
  4. Geist
P&S, CarPro, Koch Chemie, Dr. Beasley's also have great options. The thing here is that we actually have real leather in the LCs/LX570s, so it's not like modern pleather/overtreated leather that don't require the same level of attention/upkeep to prevent tearing, cracking, fading, etc.

I might have recommended Lithium Leather Love (another alternative is AMMO's Silque Leather Balm); I love tit and use these balm products as a top coat because the bees wax provides an additional protective/waterproof layer. Helps make sure that if I spill coffee, it doesn't immediately start getting absorbed into the seat.

I've used Leatherique before on the Porsche.
I will try Leather Honey Cleaner + Conditioner.

Have you tried Lexol?

My wife knows better. Our cars are clean. There's nothing in them. We don't eat in the car either.

I judge a person by how clean their car is.
lol. Ours are trashed inside. I kept my tundra spotless for 2 years until it became the primary kid car. I pick too many battles as is. Everything goes back to clean when I do a deep clean so it’s all good.

My wife is as clean and organized minded as I am and it makes life so much easier.

I’m not old by any means but I’ve been married for a decade and one thing I’ve learned in that time is as long as you can agree on how to spend and save money, and how clean and organized you like your things then everything else is easy.

Have heard of Lexol, haven't used it

And as to woman and their cars, my wife spilled her coffee (with milk) in my BMW a while back (still dating)... It was a very awkward conversation afterwards, but has not happened again since

My wife is a honey badger when it comes to her car. She used to drive to work eating a bowl of cereal. She still refuses to use lids on her coffee mugs. It’s a battle I gave up. It’s hard to get kids to care when only one parent actually reinforces something.

I just added you to my prayer list starting tonight.

New sunroof gasket, finally. Thing had been sitting on my shelf for almost 2 years. No leaks or anything, just needed to be ticked off the list.

I really like the idea of replacing that. Not a good area to have the old rubber unexpectedly let go.

How easy is that to do?

Doesn't the gasket let water through anyways? Hence the sunroof drains?
