Isn’t it still recommended to replace the wrap every couple of years to avoid paint damage and difficulty removing? I’ve had ppf on a few car parts over the years And hated every square inch of it. It always gets that mold under it and is a royal pain to remove. And at this point it’s almost cheaper to just have your car repainted every 10 years than to reapply that stuff over and over again.

Modern PPFs have come a very long way. Many, many new exotic cars get this stuff applied immediately after purchase, and the top tier products are warranted for 10 years.

I installed the Homelink repeater/translator tonight and got the button for the garage door opener working. Took about 5 minutes in total thanks to the help of this forum.

Didn't even know they had this. After spending an excessive amount of time trying to get mien to work, I just replaced the mirror with one from an IS350.

I’m no expert but the research I did showed that PPF has really surpassed traditional vinyl wrap in terms of color, protection, and ease of removal. It also costs more. I got multiply quotes for STEK and Xpel PPF in the 8-10k range.
I got a quote for full Xpel PPF on my 2021 in 2021 for more than 8k in Cali. It's not cheap.

This is more in line with my quotes from 2021 in NC, however maybe a couple thousand cheaper. I wasn't spending $6k for full XPEL PPF. Mine isn't perfect, but I can see areas where the PPF has prevented paint issues under it.

IS350 mirror has the same dimming feature?

My dimming function acts up occasionally and a new mirror is very expensive.. I’d have a lot easier time finding a used IS mirror than for a 200.

First oil change for me on my 2013; swapped to 5W-30 restore & protect and an OEM filter. Fumoto valve installed, I love these valves I put them on everything. My first experience with the 2-piece plastic filter housing, went smoother than I expected, still prefer a 1-piece metal filter but this isn't hard. I didn't even drain the filter housing, just unscrewed it, so I only replaced the big o-ring. I bought a metal filter housing but it was the wrong one (filter support too short) so I didn't use it. I will probably change the oil in less than 5000 in case this oil loosens any gunk. Once I get the diffs and transfer case fluids done I will have finally replaced all the fluids since buying this a few months ago.

The Funoto valve is one of those things I need to get installed..

Makes me a little uneasy about the longevity/leaks but everyone seems to love them.

you need to use the filter support from your plastic housing. It is easy to swap over.

Yep. The only issue I am not fond of is the compass is a different shade of green. This is the title of the mirror I purchased on Ebay for $43

Same here. 10k all in after paint correction and some custom cut pieces for my bumpers. I have some visible seems around the snorkel and some on the custom pieces on the bumper but it’s take a beating and looks untouched. My plastic door trim in the B pillar has lots of pin striping but anything wrapped is pristine. Going full bore with the pressure washer on the big guts on the bumper and caked on mud everywhere else is also a perk.

I had it installed when the truck was new in 2021, installers said removing it in the future wouldn’t be a problem. I trust him because if it has to come off it will be him doing it.

That's great info, I really appreciate it.

Yep. Just carefully pry up the tabs with a flat head screwdriver to remove the taller one
