Extracted this shank from the rear passenger tire downtown. Onboard toolkit only. Installed the spare, repaired the tire with two big strips from my off-road repair kit, and she’s good as new.

Also rolled over 197k miles.

Looks like part of a ratchet strap from a commercial truck. Never considered getting a flat from one of those..

Yep. Roads around here are terrible with debris and potholes everywhere.

Remember the days when you could just tape a plain metal key to a part of the vehicle. Or even put the key in a magnetic box and locate it in a hidden area to retrieve if you ever lost your key.

Last Friday I picked up an additional key from my local dealer. This was just the steel key that pulls out of the remote unit that is used to just unlock the door. I then took one of my remote key units, wrapped it in aluminum foil, and put it inside the vehicle.

So, now if I happen to lose my key, or misplace it somewhere, I can now get into my LC by unlocking the door and then unwrap the aluminum foil and off I go.

did some fun wheeling this weekend so took her for a wash today. My TRD Pro wheels are looking pretty chalky so I picked up some matte spray sealant. I wasn’t expecting much but this stuff worked really well!

Went out on her maiden towing voyage and first trip into the dirt last weekend for my wife's birthday. She wanted to go camping at The Scales...a USFS "campground" at the intersection of the Appalachian Trail and a few others just north of Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia. Amazing hiking and unique geography as well as wild ponies all around. Pretty sure I could watch the gas gauge moving, but with the OTT Spicy tune with the ECT PWR button, it did really well. Nevermind that my Power Wagon on 37s AND a pop-up camper gets better mpgs towing the same trailer. :p

I'll grab one tomorrow. It had these same springs with the lower tier, non-IMS Dobinsons dampers when I bought it...but the springs were worn with the rears being a rusty mess. So I can't compare to a true factory height, but there's a bit of rake (as their should be, IMO) when it's unloaded.
Sorry, @Jrod ...didn't mean to take so long to respond to this. Just took these. There's noticeable rake, but it's pretty close to stock...especially with 33s filling things out. This is after 5 weeks of settling and having a healthy 400 pound tongue weight attached for 4 solid days. On flat, even ground I still had between 1/2 and 3/4" of rake with the trailer hooked up without the dogs in the back (another 130 pounds).

Finally broke down and got my windshield replaced. New OEM Side Trim and aftermarket glass, total cost $920. I was putting this off as the current replacement doesn't leak, but the crack across the drivers side was getting worse, and one of my kids pulled the rear view mirror off and pulled a chunk of glass out. So far so good, but will be definitely monitoring for leaks before there are issues.

Howdy!

I recently got my hands on a 2017 LC, almost 80k miles on the clock. The records show it was well-maintained, though the last owner wasn’t too fussed about interior cleanliness. Overall, I’m really happy with it so far.

I’ve had a 2000 LX470 for a while now. We’ve added an OME lift and a few other things here and there, and it has surprisingly low mileage (176k). But it’s a northern vehicle, so rust is a constant battle. But the LX470 has been a great ride, and I’ve learned a ton from this community. I’ve never posted anything before, so I thought I’d give it a try.

One problem that the 2017 had going on was a foggy front emblem.

I poked around online and found the OEM emblem was listed for $376 from PartSouq, cheapest I could find was used on eBay for $40+ shipping. Not bad but I'm impatient so I went down to the parts house and picked up a headlight restoration kit ($22).

Mask off the area to be restored.

After first cut with 1000 grit pad.

Skip to post third cut of 2000 and 3000 grit pads, removed tape to prep for ceramic coating. Already much improved!

Finished product. Very pleased with the final results.

Overall very easy, and greatly improved the front appearance. The foggy dinner plate emblem was an eyesore and detracted from an overall great looking Land Cruiser.

 job for sure.

All you need is a Resto kit, water in a cup or spray bottle, some elbow grease (I didn't get the drill mount version) and about 30 minutes (90 minutes if you account for the ceramic coating cure time).

That looks great! Will the ceramic coat block UV? That would be my biggest concern so you don’t have to redo this in 4 months.

I polished mine then simply put on a synthetic wax product (meguair's ultimate, IIRC) and it hasn't noticeably fogged in at least 2 years. Contrasted with my polished headlight buckets, which would go about 3 months..

zoom out so we can see this new beast!

Thanks!! I used this stuff mostly because it was cheap and with such a small area I didn’t feel it was necessary to break out the drill.

The packaging speaks to the ceramic coating will last a “lifetime”. I’ll report back if it fails.

This was somewhat of an impulse buy and I didn’t get any pics on the lot. I’ll add some soon!

Got some TKO LX570 sliders, finished them with Monstaliner, cut stock running boards, and installed the TKOs. Thanks to the forum for all the info that led me to deciding this was the way to go for my needs. Still wondering if I should get the LC rocker panels though, I wouldn't mind a slightly nicer fit/finish.

I looked at doing the LC rockers and found that there is not a really good paint match between my LX and a comparable LC color. Painting them basically doubled the cost - FYI.
