Not trying to start anything, but keep in mind that REI isn't really a friend of OHV / offroading. When you buy from them, know they are using some of the profits from your purchases to support groups working to eliminate motorized use of parks.

FYI, I've seen quite a few roof racks badly damaged when someone's Hi-Lift caught a tree (especially when off-camber). I'd mount that to the inside of the rack rails.

I did not know this info. I will look into this, if there is ANY evidence REI is on that side of the fence I will never shop there again. Thanks for that tip.

I've heard a lot about this and IIRC it was discussed over on Pirate4x4 as well. My understanding is that REI/North Face/Patagonia are not direct supporters of off-road parks, but rather support "muscle-powered recreation" instead. The only time they support off-roading is when it is being used in conjunction with some type of park cleanup or maintenance. They advocate for more 'on-foot' wilderness exploration rather than on 4 wheels. REI gives out tons of grants($$$) to support the construction & maintenance of walking/hiking/biking trails, but through all the reading I've done I'm yet to come across a case where they put any money towards off-road trails. Kind of discouraging and as much as I love their equipment it does steer me away from shopping with them

Cranked torsion bars back up to 1" rake, changed PCV, cleaned throttle body, pin 7 mod, and did some spring break relaxing on Long Beach, WA, with the kids. They love sitting on the tailgate while I 'cruise around.

careful on tweaking the front torsion bars to high, you'll then need to install adjustable upper control arms and a good wheel alignment to adjust the caster to correct torque steer - I'm still trying to find the right balance.

Yes your correct. I have the sweet spd upper control arms installed and a diff drop. Other than some odd steering angle that is laid over too far, I should be able to make it work by all accounts.

I'm my case, (out east) I tagged the RTT on an off camber tree. Managed to back off some and get thru without a disaster. I did have some work to get the hinge realigned.

I looked up Daytona Beach it's still allowed and will cost you $10.00 a day. No excuses take a road trip. (Used to live in Fla) FYI: drove on the beach and a lap on the speedway.....

Replaced the zzzz...zzzz.....zzzz rear Sub last night with a Kicker CompRT (43CWRT672) $99. This is a shallow mount 6.75" 2ohm 150w rms speaker. Pretty much a direct fit, direct wire into the JBL box, new mounting holes required but self tapping screws help with that. Wiring is simple plug & play with the Kicker spring loaded connectors built into the speaker.

The new Sub clears the internal depth inside the box and the fits the opening, but the front sticks out about 1/4" further than the OEM sub. To correct I trimmed the fins off of the inside of the speaker grill and widened the speaker grill opening.

The body panels snapped back in place, not 100% perfect (I could have trimmed the grill opening a tad more) but good enough. The biggest pita was pulling the drawers back out to get the panel off. (should have fixed this prior to the drawer install)

Sound is quite good, but realistically anything would have been an improvement over the torn factory Sub.
