I drove the 2002 all weekend so my husband could rig up lights and do last-minute stuff to the 2007 before I leave to go out west next Sunday.

Follow along! Love to have you!

Special Agent Cooper Takes Montana - Expedition Portal

What a great trip! Visited Glacier last year, really cool place. Photo below taken at Mary Glacier Lodge.

Nice! how many bananas was the speaker swap? How long did it take you? I have all the speaker, just need the time to do it!
1.5 banana job using a post on 'door panel removal process' and another on speaker install - both of which had plenty of photos which help me as a visual learner. the hardest part of the whole job was getting the interior door handle surround off. i get paranoid about breaking clips/tabs and find myself not using enough force and that one had a couple tabs that were very thick and needed a lot of force (at least in my case) to get off. otherwise it was all pretty straight forward.

as for the time it took, i'm not a good measure since i took a number of breaks to cool down (it was 100* yesterday and sunny) and watch the US open. I started early around 9:30 am, and didn't finish until 3. but that included lunch break, a Lowes run for some heat shrink tubing, a few beers and some couch time.

if i was doing it again, i'd do both doors at the same time - i.e. pull both panels and then both sets of speakers - go inside and wire everything up/mount the brackets, then go back out and put them in at the same time. i did passenger door first from start to finish, then tackled the drivers door. that one was super fast since i'd already done the process and wasn't going back and forth to look at the install thread.

here are the two posts i used:
Replaced the speakers in our '03 100. Write-up including sub replacement

wow, those were roached. it was 99 here in Denver yesterday. Although, if you work in the shade, generally you are ok. I've had the speakers for over 7 years and finally have the time and space to install them. I'll try to do it this weekend. Do you have a LC or LX? I hear the LX's doors are a bit more difficult to remove.

06 LC.

Took our 2001 LC with 223K miles on it, on a road trip from Los Angeles to Mendocino. Freeway cruising at 85 mph, and about 6 hours of driving Hwy 128 from Santa Rosa to Mendocino, and the truck performed beautifully! People who were with us could not believe the truck is 15 years old. Ran without a hiccup...total distance driven 1500 miles in 5 days.

How do they sound? Am looking to change mine up after upgrading the OEM stereo.

compared to the blown out stock JBL's, anything would have been an improvement (see follow up photo above). that said, they sound decent considering i didn't change anything else other than put a little dynamat in the doors while i had the panels off. and they were only $80 for the set on AMZN.

Had to add a fairing to stop the howling from the rack at highway speeds. Was just test fitting, the thule sticker will be removed later.

After looking at this picture am tempted to dig out an old snowboard and see if I can turn it into a fairing as the basic shape is quite similar except wider and a hell of a lot sturdier both which may work well

how'd it work out? what % sound reduction would you say it decreased by?

I can no longer hear it howl over the tires noise which is good enough for me. You get used to the tire noise but the howl of the rack was an irritating pitch after a while.

Replaced the fuel filler hose between the filler pipe and the gas tank. The plastic lining had become separated and made filling the tank extremely slow. Also replaced a steel cable that holds the tail gate open. Some water must have collected inside the rubber surround and rusted the cable.

Went camping up to Little Cultus lake, thought I had found a more 'fun' route there....

NOPE!

75w90 synthetic in front/rear diff and xfer case. Cleaned MAF and throttle body. Greased the driveline. Oil change this weekend. Front bearing repack next week. Be ready for HIH at that point...

Replaced alternator to batter power wire, installed dual USB's + voltmeter, refinished center console, wash, clay bar, wax, pose next to the 4Runner.

Preparing for trip. Both came yesterday. Christmas at 115 deg!! Good thing I'm done so we have money left for gas.

Had to have a Wits End sticker so I picked up the Anderson kit! Amazing top quality stuff from @NLXTACY Pics on his site don't do this setup justice. Thanks Joey.
