Installed a Kenwood touch screen bluetooth unit so I can stream Pandora again. I by-passed the factory amp, huge difference in sound quality, I highly reccomend the amp by-pass to anyone installing an aftermarket head unit. Mine is a 2000 btw

how did the bypass go? do you have a bypass step by step process? I have a aftermarket HU and the hiss from the amp pisses me off.

I used the info here Stereo Wiring: Land Cruiser / LX 470 (1998-02) to get the wires correct. Ran speaker wires from head unit down to the amp under the passenger seat. No hiss at all, speakers are nice and clear and head unit seems to have more power than the factory amp did.

the hiss is probably there because most use the speaker wires from their new unit (generally amped by the unit) to send a signal to the factory amp. This is the norm when you buy the off the shelf supposed "harness." So an amplified signal is again being amplified causing the hiss and probably very loud beeps if the unit makes sounds when you hit the buttons. The solution is to get some old rca cables, cut them and splice them into the wires taking the sound signal to the amp. Then plug the rca ends into the rca amp outputs on your new unit. This way you are sending an un-amplified signal to your factory amp and all will be well. All in all it takes like an hour and spicing about 12 wires and your good. Did this the first time on our LX 8 years ago and again on a buddy truck two weekends ago when car toys insisted the whole car has to be rewired and wanted $1000 in labor. :bang: Wanted to drive it by there and tell the guy off but realized they are just doing their job of screwing people.

definitely, be happy to help regardless. shoot me a text or call and we can meet up.

rack has already been put to good use, I do see what you meant about the wind noise though. time to create a fairing of some sort.

before I had the factory rack with thule 58" bars, it made about the same noise as the expo rack. thanks for the offer, I ping you later. I appreciate the offer to help.

My center diff lock wasn't coming on, after a little bit of searching on here I found the switch indicator sensor, the OEM part number and the NAPA alternative. I had to remove the heat shield to gain better access to the sensor, so everything said and done it took about 20 minutes to swap out.

Picked up a set of TRD Tundra Wheels 18" TRD Black and Silver with almost unused Michelin Tires $600 on Craigslist. I like the TRD pro look better in all black, so I coated them with Rust-Oleum FlexiDip in Gloss Black. I may order the TRD Wheel caps or just leave the ones with the Toyota Logo. Also, I'm blacking out the emblems on the rear hatch and front grill.

Installed new steering wheel tonight. Looks awesome. Simple install, really nice upgrade for my delaminated original wheel.

This is the taiwan option from ebay seller euromotosports

In other news I now have a loaner wheel if anyone wants to borrow it. Just pay shipping both ways...

I pulled the trigger on this wheel last night. Looks great and for $300 delivered its a bargain. You cannot get a stock one for that. Nor get a good trimmer to reskin for that little

Changed the plugs at 125k - they all look good, no residue on them. Ran fine before, runs fine after.

I just finished reinstalling my Slee skid plates after taking many months to install new Toyota CV axles, DBA rotors, remanufactured Toyota calipers and a new transfer indicator switch to get the center differential dash light to work again. Also completed 90K mile maintenance items, replaced emergency brake shoes, rebuilt bell crank housings, and adjusted emergency brake. I've read IH8MUD for years and accessed many threads numerous times to get the items on my 2004 LC completed correctly. Thanks to all who make MUD a great, enjoyable resource!

Welcome and nice job. Note: Best practice is to replace wheel hub flange with new front drive shaft (CV axle), this reduces clunk when shifting from N to D. Setting proper wheel bearing preload and snap ring gap to spec is key to long life of axle & flange.

Done. Dual USB + voltmeter installed. I am running it off of the bottom toggle switch on the left so I can turn it off while driving at night. Upper switch is for rear lights. Almost wish I didn't include the face-plate since it doesn't quite fit and looks a little shoddy, but felt that I had to in order to cover an imperfection that was driving my crazy from the dash refinishing job I did on it. If I didn't include the face-plate it still wouldn't cover it. Battle of OCD I guess:mad: but I opted for the face-plate and overall I am very happy with it!

The lx470 is the wife's daily driver, she's loving it. Now I'm in the market for a 100 series instead of an 80 series, which means I'm more than likely selling my Tundra.

Installed new low beam head lights, installed @pfran42 interior LED light kit + the lights under the running board + CREE reverse lights. Great service!
