Went on a hike with the kids and had to do some unexpected wheeling. Caught one of my running boards.

I needed new tires, so I decided the day has come: good by running boards....

Easy except for one bolt that was a little hard to get to. It was behind the AC lines on the passenger side.

This weekend I took advantage of working at a Mercedes dealership and used my hoist and work tools, my own time, and replaced the timing belt, water pump, idler pulley, tensioner and tensioner pulley on our 98 LX with 247K miles! Also I got front and second row replacement seats out of a 2001 LX at a local Toyota/Lexus/Scion wrecking yard to replace the torn ones that came with our girl!

The passenger seat was very torn up, and I was able to get both front seats, (grey) for $350, and then went back and got the entire second row seats for $250!! The rear seats were torn also. Now I have front, second row, and third row seats sitting in the garage!! I will sell the old 1st and 2nd row, and keep the 3rd row.


I used the Aisin TKT-021 kit from Amazon, and t-stat, FIPG, and coolant from Toyota. If you didn't already know, Lexus owners can log into their "Owners" account on the Lexus website, choose "Service History" and manually add repairs. It requires a RO# and the Repair Facility name, but I was able to add my repairs! Just something I thought was neat!

How long did the timing belt take using a ramp and air tools, just asking as I have a timing belt on mine to do and I rent a ramp, just wondering if it easy to finish in a day.
 
Busy week. New Headlights, windshield, linexd below the headlights and below the body side mouldings, painted body side mouldings, wet sanded and polished the paint, installed Safari snorkel and some limb risers. Painted my chrome grill, black.

Allowed my teenage kid to drive the family home from our Easter trip, beat my best real-world trip milage by 1.2 MPG. Of course, I drive 10-15 mph faster...

Upgraded the battery terminals with military style with 3/8" posts today. I also added a Slee distribution block that suits the stock horizontal orientation. The short ground wire going to the body was upgraded to 4awg. I used the adhesive shrink tubing and feel it will seal really well. This is in preparation of the 2nd battery install coming soon, using the new Slee battery and air compressor tray.
The hardest portion was removing the factory terminal which is crimped onto the 2 gauge ground wire. I ended up having to use a cut off disc to cut into each side of the clamp to remove the wire without damaging it.

Remounted my raw steel Dissent front bumper so I could drive up to get my Gamiviti rack today. Tim helped me get it mounted up and it looks freaking awesome. Huge endorsement! Will post some pics tomorrow with the faring and without. The faring hides the 42" light bar direct mounted to the rack. Can't wait to get it wired up and tested.
 
Just pulled P0300, P0301, P0303, P0304 codes which popped up on our road trip home. Now to start the process of elimination on the cause.

Hey Julian!

It should be doable in one day! I spent two days after work, about 3 hours the first night until I had to leave when they closed and locked-up the shop, then 4 hours the next night again until I had to leave. My buddies hung out and watched and there was a lot of BS'ing happening, I think I will be faster on the next one!!

Got around to replacing the steering rack bushings on my '00 LX yesterday. What a difference! She drives so much tighter and tracks straight going down the highway again. It was so much easier than all the threads made it out to be. Turned out to be pretty painless, I was in and out of there in about 3 hours while casually chatting with my dad the whole time.
