Picked up a 3mm thick piece of foam from the hobby store and cut it to fit the upper part of the center storage compartment. No more rattle!

New antenna mast. Half banana job. One of the easiest 100 series repairs of all times.

now i'm poor.
New front and rear pads

spark plugs and throttle body decarb
Tip: Using MAF sensors spray cleaner also is good idea now. Either way disconnect battery for 30 minutes to reset systems.

Did the 10" woofer fit stock location? Not sure what year your 100/470 is...

replaced a bad BT45-TOY unit with a new VaisTech SL3B-L unit.

Bought my SL3b last summer and still haven't installed it (been refoaming speakers). What's everyone doing with mounting the SL3b? I don't like the idea of it loose in the glovebox. Don't have a real need to access it often. Was thinking of mounting mine under and inside the center console near the shifter by way of double-sided adhesive. Limited by length of VAIS supplied cabling. No desire to splice and extend.

its literally a 20 minute install. I've got mine in the glove box "just in case". its attached with velcro so pretty stable.

fyi, they have firmware upgrades available for the unit. you will want to contact support and get the newest firmware to update over bluetooth

Not to thread-jack, but I was curious how firmware updates would be handled for the SL3b and/or if they'd be furnished at all and how they would be applied. I take it it's not posted on VAIS' site as you encourage contacting support directly? How do you accomplish the update via Bluetooth? From PC or mobile OS? Only Bluetooth or via USB alternatively? And what constitutes the update (release notes)?

I've considered velcro as well. Does the unit not chew into the already small glovebox? The LX470 car bible leaves little room for much else.

The firmware updates appear to be relatively small, sub 200kb. You pair your laptop with the device via bluetooth, and then transfer the firmware file via BT. It transfers slowly over a 1-2 minute period, automatically updates and reboots. You can also do it from an android phone, but i didn't ask for the instructions.

I did ask for a change log/release notes, but the support folks say they don't exist. Unfortunate.

Much thanks for this info. Sad there's no release notes. Makes you wonder what necessitated a FW update to the product. Enhancements? Bug fixes? Both? I'll heckle support to see what I can find. Let us also know if you noticed any obvious changes with the new FW

For those severely budget conscious, that may be a viable solution. My experience and the experience of multitudes has proven those FM transmitters to be most lousy. In fact, you're better off with the tape adapter where quality is concerned. With the FM transmitter, you're going from an already constrained and lossy bluetooth bitstream to the highly susceptible to environmental interference FM waves. Additionally, there's no interface with your bluetooth device to display playback info on the MFD.

The SL3b is as fully featured as we can get for our rigs without major retrofit required for aftermarket head units. You can actually control the music via the head unit and steering wheel when an SL3b is used. It's far less susceptible to interference and audio signal degradation due to it's point-to-point bluetooth interface, instead of point-to-relay-to-point of the FM jobs. Audio quality is as excellent as the stock CD player.

For $210 more than the FM transmitter, I highly recommend the SL3b. However, if one is willing to experiment, at least Amazon has an excellent return policy ;)

Re-did all my auxiliary lights/switches/wire routing, added some more and shortened the to do list before KOHs!

What have I done to my 100 series? Today, I used it to take my wife (and fourth month old) to South Padre for her birthday....and pulled a stuck truck camper and his trailer out of the sand while I was at it.
