Got me some new headlights from Bell Lexus on the BF sale. Only passenger was busted, but I replaced both so they can be matchy matchy.

New fuel pump installed today . . . just seems to ride much smoother and most importantly, immediately started up after install.

Replaced window run driver side and got rid of the wind noise by my ear. Replaced the window moldings - expensive but was tired of looking at spotty chromey trim pieces. My driver side window rolls up around 3.75 seconds which is faster than my passenger side at 4.5 seconds!

8 new denso coils and ngk spark plugs

Im pretty sure the ones I pulled out were the original ones as 7 of the 8 coils were cracked. 3 put of the 4 passenger plugs were cover in oil so I guess I have to add seals the the list of things I should do.
Nice !!!!!!

Cam cover bolts need to be properly torqued or there will not be enough tension on the spark plug tube seals. Then again, depending upon mileage, the spark plug tube seals may need to be replaced… but maybe not.

Considering you just installed new spark plugs and ignition coil packs, I’d start with re-torque on the cam cover bolts… 53 in/lbs per the FSM.
You may find that the oil in spark plug tubes does not return.

Cam cover bolts are known to relax torque with time. I check mine every year for proper torque.

Are they OEM? I bought some aftermarket ones and the fit ain’t OEM. Had to buy some super thin silicon adhesive gasket stuff to make them fit without gaps. That worked but it is not OEM. I suppose I’ve not looked at a dealer but will have to.

Got my BF sale sherpa rack installed

Bit the bullet and did a grille swap like @choyota . It came without a Lexus emblem and I bought a 165mm one that was too small so I need to return it and picked up a 175mm emblem. Still need to push the bottom in a bit but looks good from a little ways off. My truck is definitely a 5 footer(to me at least)

2,400 miles from Sacramento to Winter Park, Colorado and back w/o a hitch.
He's more used to California's temperate climate, but handled sub-freezing like a champ.

Changed rear diff and transfer case oil. Needed a 24" breaker bar for rear diff drain plug. Fluid from diff was a little opaque. 5 years and 30k miles on this fluid. T case fluid was just darker than new but translucent.

Went to Azusa Canyon for some casual wheeling and to watch the mud, and while straddling a rut, my drivers tire slipped into it and clunked a rock in the rut, after pulling out my steering wheel was turned almost 90deg while going straight so i knew something was off. Visually it was off camber by a TON but it limped home fine. I figured i tore the alignment out of it, but when i got home some simple comparison measurements showed me something was more off. The upper control arm was sitting much lower than usual and had actually made contact with the AHC Shock putting a dent in it, and the ball joint was all bound up.

Finally after measuring the distance between the top of the knuckle arm to the edge of the hub i found a 0.5" difference, concluding that the knuckle arm was bent. Found another one within an hour from a legendary local guy who parts out landcruisers and was back home with the new spindle within 2 hours. Cleaned it up, fresh coat of paint, fresh grease in the spindle bearings, and it went back on the same night.

Boys i wish i bought an 80, i love this truck, it rides like a dream, has tons of power, but i'm scared to beat on it too hard with the IFS, and it's so so heavy, i've rocked two sidewalls now by compressing the tire against the rim at like 18psi, on wildpeak at4 c loads with the 10 ply sidewalls. In hindsight get E loads, the extra fear i have driving over brutal rocky climbs is not worth the softer ride. I just want something i can beat the hell out of and fix with my welder, and not have to order expensive oem parts from japan. Or go full send with a SAS!

SAS is definitely a possibility, but it's a mountain of work. And the 80 is still "better" in the end for being all OEM and easy to fix.

But I wouldn't go back, no way. :hillbilly:

Long travel IFS with coilovers.

Another very intriguing option to SAS swap…

I wouldn’t buy from Amazon or eBay. Densoproducts.com for me. To each their own.

I've read about the counterfeit issues but the current Amazon offering is sold by Amazon itself. Should be legit?? I will give you that Denso does not list them as a retailer as they do sparkplugs.com aka densoproducts.com

So here's what I did. Ordered 4 of each from Amazon and densoproducts. Will report back if they are identical or not. Price with shipping/tax came to $58.17 for Amazon and $67.73 for densoproducts.

eBay has spent a lot of time and money trying to legitimize itself in the world of marketplaces. They have a pretty robust return/refund policy. And well Amazon is Amazon you just have to do the sniff test but they basically take anything back.
Either way it way easier to get your money back from eBay or Amazon then some rando website.
