I've always used M209 filters. Which one's did you use? Total armchair automotive engineer here but I've never been a fan of the YZZs.

M1-209. Both of mine were mis-manufactured and somehow cleared Quality Control. LandCruiser Specialists here in town have seen a few others recently. For me, Mobil1 209 filters are 0-2 whereas OEM are 21-0. I do use Mobil1 fluids and grease though and love them.

installed Trail Taylor Recovery Points

Replaced the alternator (124,xxx) with a reman Denso from NAPA and took my folks on a tour of various petroglyphs in the southern half of the state.

These are the bulbs I used but I bought them from a different site. I wanted a fan-less bulb

Amazon product ASIN B07HL37MZ6

I also used 80mm dust caps for the low beams (LX470 fogs will require smaller dust boots)

Any issues with output blinding other drivers? I've researched this a ton on here, and every thread ends up bashing putting LEDs in the stock housing and recommends a proper HID retrofit instead. Has technology just gotten better?

LMAO! If I had a dollar for every time I worried about that I would have zero dollars. In all seriousness you do hear that. Looks pretty good in his pictures though.

Anecdote. I used to run M1 in my 80. Changed the oil just once a year. I would drain, and then run it used in an old Ford Probe commuter for another year and maybe an additional 20k miles or so. Analysis once came back one time as though it was 4000 miles old and should be changes "soon".

Anyway, now I'm worried about the 209s in the last year or so. Wish I could still get the 20004s easily.

About to change my oil in my 2001. My buddy who worked at Toyota gave me a bunch of parts he got from the dealership. He said oil filter 90915-yzzb5 is compatible. Can anybody verify this? Using high mileage pennzoil 5w30. Not a believer in synthetic.

WATCH that Mobil1 filter. I recently installed one (having only ever used OEM Toyota previously). It spit oil like crazy as there was a manufacturing defect on the o-ring and the stamped area. The replacement had the same manufacturing error (noticed before installing). Replaced with another Toyota OEM D3 and no issues whatsoever. Just an FYI. A few others on another forum indicated they saw recent issues with Mobil1 filters as well.

Thanks for the heads up @geanes - I've got a M1-209 sitting on a shelf in my garage so will cross that bridge next oil change.
Since it was dealer service though they used a Toyota filter.
Still wish we could get the original OEM ones though.
I think it was discussed on here year's ago that Americans just don't want to spend the $ for oil maintenance like the Japanese consumers.

Not too much done TO it, but did finally wire in signal lights, wired in ARB IPF lights into the factory fog lights and mounted them on the bumper. Got them off ebay with no mounts, ended up bending some U shaped brackets myself. Still debating whether to spend the ridiculous amount of $ to get a arb fog light housing plastic and cut into this bumper but that sounds less than ideal but itd be nice to have the fog lights lower and put bigger spot/headlights in its place. Also put two pairs of quick fists mounted with conduit hangers on the roof rack to hold shovel and axe up outside the car. Pretty sturdy nothing even budges while moving. View attachment 2061966Took the 100 down to Asheville NC for 4 days with the family plus picked up sister in law and her husband from the airport and they camped with us along the Swannanoa river. So 4 adults, 2 kids in car seats...it was very full and very heavy. No trails really more just sight seeing. I must have seen a dozen 100's, FJs, and 80's, they were everywhere there. About 1,200 miles in one weekend so another milestone crossed on the way to 500K club. On the way up one of the passes on I40 or I26 I cant remember, my fan suddenly got louder and the car just had a more "airy" jet like sound to it. Apparently my fan clutch is going out. With the car cold I could barely move it, so I'll be replacing it tonight and filling it with some 30,000 CST per ACCToyotas advice on another thread.

This mileage makes me happy. :)

Even modded my sticker slightly, not quite mud like but not "stock" either! :meh:

I haven’t encountered anything like that. As you can see, the cutoff is nice and sharp. You have to use an LED bulb that has the LED array in the exact same position where the filament would be in a halogen bulb

Took it out to Uwharrie National Forest in NC. Met up with my parents in my dad's built TJ and wheeled together in our own respective vehicles for the first time ever. I also took delivery of a little camper I bought from my parents over a year and towed it home. Other than one trailer tire blow out (one had also blown on my parents towing it down) and having to source two new ones on a Sunday evening in BFE South Carolina, it was an awesome trip.

I love Mobil1 oil for sure. I use the 5w-30 Synthetic High Mileage. I change mine every 5000 miles (more than likely too frequent, but I daily drive and tow so probably more stress than most). I run Seafoam in it the last 300 miles before change. The Fumoto valve makes changes a snap.

Love my Fumoto valve as well. Makes me happy every time I use it.
I'm curious about the Mobil filters. I'm the opposite in that I don't prefer M1 oil (I use it if Castrol Edge isn't available) but I typically use the M 209A filter. I recently changed the oil and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with the seal. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

I also run the M209A filter and have been using them for about 3yrs now with no issues. Filter changed every other oil change with M1 5W-30 High Mileage. I’ll have to keep an eye on it too and also inspect every future filter I purchase for that defect in the o-ring, but I’ve been very pleased with the performance and compact size of these filters.

Have you noticed any leaking/dripping from yours? I had my indy put mine in the last time they had my truck and it's leaked since. I'm thinking of maybe some teflon tape around the threads? Not much I can do about the down-spout itself dripping... It's the only thing besides AC condensation that leaks on my truck and it's annoying.
