You got lucky to get help putting everything back. My dad an I crossed the border when I was a teenager with a pickup full of camping gear wearing camo jackets I believe and they scattered our stuff everywhere convinced we were hiding something. 3 hours later after repacking ourselves we moved forward.and try as you might you'll never find each piece to clean out, remember crossin the border with my 55 back in the day. they weren't concerned about 22 brass but when they found that 45 empty i got to develope a personal relationship with the captain or whatever the canadians call their boss while the guys went diggin to find that evil handgun. at least they helped put everything back in, the one asked about how i had rock chips on the inside of the windshield and i knew enough to play dumb which wasn't hard for me. this was at the time we could buy sears for not much money at the gunshow and really make the ar sing. oh how i miss those days lol. never did get a Christmas card from the guy but i was expecting one
