@thecrazygreek

Yours always a floor shifter?
As far as I know yes.

I always assumed the floor shift conversion was done at the dealer. But it now seems that it may have been done at the factory.

Doubt it is original or a dealer add on. 64 was years before the reverse light started. Can see the spot for reverse light is plugged. Early floor shifts top plates were not made for a reverse light shift. Pretty sure I have one of these early style minus the reverse light.

Good call... ^
I didn't notice the reverse plug. Makes me think I might be able to add a reverse light???
Maybe do a custom period looking housing... hmmm...

Edit... looking at the plug... it's at the rear of the housing. The reverse gear is engaged in the front left position. So that's not making sense to me...

Yes ... when the shifter (inside the housing it is towards) is pulled away from the switch... it activates ... if that makes sense

I may be confusing with my old triumph... the switch has power with key on ... it pulls away and activates... I think lol

Either way ... it is correct spot to reverse

I just changed mine 6 months ago you’d think I’d remember :)

Looks like the J is stamped separately from the FL7. Maybe a different stage in the assembly process?
