For my 60 I’m debating a slightly different setup so I can carry more fuel. Dilemma I have is that if I’m out long enough to need extra fuel, I probably want the bigger cooler…..

That’s my thoughts as well. The 40 basically has 150 mile range without spare fuel. So I at least want 5 gallons back there. But I have a plan to integrate a 5 gallon can into the tire carrier side as well.

Funny we talked about those coolers yesterday, than saw one in person last night.

Got license on it today. Drove it, the rear axle noise solved itself. Now the driveshaft turns but the wheels don’t 😂

Guess I should have put the front driveshaft in already so I can limp Home. Oh well. Guess I’ll tear into the axle sooner than later now

The shame..

Thankful to have good friends. Thankful it was ok a back road 1/2 mile from home

As I sit here staring at a computer screen wishing I was pulling the diff apart instead I had the though of a thought last night.

Does anyone know of what cb antenna mount was Used “back in the day”

@Flatlanderfj40 has the same antenna on his 40 as I’m looking for. Mine had one in this same location at one point.

Its crazy how many 40's had that same CB antenna mount installed somewhere on the vehicle. Those mounts are still available. I learned a long time ago the trail rash/trees have a tendency to knock stuff off the side of a vehicle. Fortunately my PO mounted it on the rear. Just search the net for CB antenna ball mount. I'd add a antenna spring.

I had that same mount in the same place on all 3 of my 40s, my 55 and now my 80. Pretty stout really. I drug the ball mount across a rock face when I leaned my Cruiser into it on a v notch on the Rubicon last year and it was fine. I usually ran 102" whips on those Cruisers though

Installed my front driveshaft in preparation to load it on the trailer and take it to the shop where I can pop the rear diff apart. I don’t really want to do that in my basement garage where I’ve done the rest of the work. I have a feeling my better half won’t enjoy the smell lofting up to our bedroom.

Planning picking up a diff tomorrow from Jason at Ozark Overland.

Ive also received all my parts for my swing out build. I just need time to actually build it now. I have a concept in my brain. Just need to get it to paper.

Thanks @TRAIL TAILOR for the latch assembly.

It is interesting that people install antennas for decorative reasons on a vehicle. Rarely have I seen the transmission profile addressed. The reason for an antenna is to receive and transmit. This installation will work somewhat, but will be transmitting into a whole bunch of steel. I will attach an image of vehicle mounts and the result of the RF .

This diagram likely wasn’t around when a ‘PO’
hacked a hole in my tub, lol…keeping the old school look, without function in my case, beats having a random hole in the tub.
Understand. But this type of RF chart has been around a really long time. The problem is the lack of knowledge of antenna theory. Years ago as a CB installer, truckers would want their antennas to fit the beauty of the truck. Driving they had lack of transmission/reception until others told them the best SWR for the truck. I will give an image of the best place to install. Always remember the antennas function RF energy , (low power), either is received or transmitted, and does not like big metal blockage. Take a look at radio antennas at various places ( for big wattage radio stations), and notice they are NEVER adjacent to any blockage .

Mine also will be more form Over function. I wouldn’t install one if it wasn’t already there. Shoot I don’t even know if I’ll put a CB radio in it, but I want to fill the hole and the antenna fits the “Look”

yeah.... somthing is broke haha. gotcha Curious what it looks like. be sure to share photos of the carnage.

Oh For sure oddly enough it quit between 2nd and 3rd gear just cruising home after work. I really think the cross pin fell out or a spider gear is wonky.

Just need to pop the cover and investigate

Is the latch on the website? I think I want something like this when I build my 60 bumper. @TRAIL TAILOR
