Great looking tool, and it works.

Thread says home made but unjust came across a couple of these giving a member a hard time about his 40" spare on 8" of lift

hitch mounted crane - Google Search

Everything from electric hoist, to hand crank, to hydraulic Pistons

You tube has tons of videos of mfg and home made options. The cabelas style big game hanger looks easiest to replicate in house

Mine started out as a game hoist for my dad. He wanted something that could lift the animal into the bed of his truck. Turned out to be too heavy and he didn't want it. So I've repurposed it... Since it wasn't built for this purpose the dimensions are off. The top arm doesn't reach out far enough to be centered over the tent and I would have made it another 6" taller so it clears the roof a little more. Will eventually hack the boom arm off and redo it for a little more height and length. Parts include 2 & 2 1/2 " square tubing 1/4" thick for the lower section, a trailer spindle, some round tubing I had lying around flat plate 1/4" thick for the rotating bit, thinner wall 2 1/2" square tubing for the upper section and a harbor freight 2500 lb winch with remote. I'm able to put the tent on/off by myself.

Drove my 92 to work today. My wife has been driving it the past few days. I noticed my voltage was low as I was driving down the street. I killed all power draws in the cab and limped it to work. There is an AutoZone by my work. Had them check the battery and alternator. (Even though this doesn't tell much). Then I had a flashback to when I replaced my alternator 7 years ago. I had bought one from O'Reillys and it was dead out of the box. Put in another that lasted 2 days. Returned them and bought an OEM one. Or so I thought! I looked at it and it had the distinct "Duralast" look to it. I asked them to look it up and sure enough, bought it at AutoZone. They ordered me a new alternator and I will replace it tonight.

Optima Red Top is at Interstate Batteries being tested. It's probably bad. The bummer is I used to get batteries for free from Interstate batteries because they were a client of mine. Well, time caught up with me. They audited their system and I no longer get free batteries. So I will be buying a new one. Don't have time to go to Costco so I'll be paying full retail. Ouch.

Woah, got a call from Interstate Batteries and my Optima Red Top is "really good" and recommended I not replace it.

So, since I'm going to a dual battery system and solar panels I will hold off until I buy both batteries at the same time.

Swapped out the alternator. Took less than 30 minutes and didn't even get dirty. It's like I'm @NLXTACY and his oil changes!

Life is so much easier without all that EGR and smog pump nonsense in the way!

I've always been an OEM guy but this time I was glad that I had gone aftermarket. Free swap out under warranty. And yes, I'm aware that if I had gone OEM maybe it wouldn't have failed. But I got 7 years out of the other one.

Oh, and I crossed 242k while the alternator went out!

Not a bad way to spend $40.

Purchased mine from Lift Support Depot.

General Grabber AT2s
I love my General Grabber AT2's..........by far the best tire I've ever owned. I'm sold

BTW, that old POS white 80 belongs to a buddy of mine, he bought it new in 1995, well over 400,000 miles ( speedo broke about 3 years ago at 385,000 miles and he puts about 25,000 miles a year on it ) original engine with same head gasket, no PHH change, nothing but oil changes every 10,000 - 12,000 miles. He's a real estate appraiser and drives the hell out of it. It's rough but he still drives it every day. He's got a 2000 LX at the house that he rarely drives, he said he may start driving it when the 80 lays down on him.
