I just calibrated my ultragauge so I know exactly how fast im going and also get the accurate miles to empty etc. here is the step by step

Here we go

How to calibrate distance using a GPS and a calculator:

NOTE
This distance calibration method is based on using GPS speed.
GPS speed is most accurate when driving in a straight line at a constant speed.

Step 1: Add a speed gauge (e.g. on page 1 zone 1 of the Ultragauge)
MENU Gauge/Page Menu .. Select Gauge/Page .. Select Gauges Select Page 1 Gauges
Use UP & DOWN keys to Navigate to MPH or KPH
Press MENU. This will cause the cursor to blink.
Pressing UP or DOWN change the number to 1
Press MENU to assign the Gauge to that Page 1 Zone 1.
Leave the menu by selecting Back, etc
The Ultragauge should now show the MPH or KPH on page 1
Step 2: Grab your calculator and your GPS navigation device, get in your car and head for the motorway.
Step 3: While driving at a constant high speed for at least a few seconds note down the speed readings of the Ultragauge and the GPS.
The readings are probably different.
Step 4: Find a convenient place to stop, switch on your calculator and do the following calculation: GPS speed reading divided by Ultragauge speed reading.
Step 5: Adjust the "Distance cal." factor in the Ultragauge
Menu - Vehicle Setup - Calibration - Calibrate Distance
Note the distance value shown by Ultragauge and on the calculator multiply this by the factor found in step 4
Press MENU and press UP or DOWN to adjust the distance value to the calculated value.
Press MENU to store the updated distance value. The Ultragauge now shows the new Distance cal. value
Leave the menu by selecting Back, etc
Switch off your calculator :)
Step 6: Take another drive on the motorway and check if the GPS speed reading and the Ultragauge speed reading at constant speed are now the same.
Step 7: If necessary make fine adjustments to the distance calibration value until GPS speed and Ultragauge speed are identical.

Ran hot for the first time.. 75mph, despite packing all of the gear as aerodynamically as possible was just too much for the lx on I-49 north of Alexandria, LA. Ambient temp was 80*F.

The a/c cut out which was my first indicator that the temp gauge needle was above horizontal. Having read so many stories here on Mud, I backed down and kept an eye on the gauges into Dallas.

Had to drop down to 65mph. Once the ambient temp was below 70*F the lx seemed comfortable with the cruise control @70.

13.2mpg roof box only. 70mph

Since it's the year end, which seems like a weekend, I went to Big Bear with the family. Only my son and I had the guts to snowboard. My wife and daughter preferred to stay cozy and sip on hot chocolate. Apparently at 29F it's way too cold for those two.

The car drove beautifully. The only thing not so good is that I now have a pronounced wobble upon breaking hard(er). I guess a rotor replacement is in the cards for me. Not looking forward to it.

Oh, and since I replaced the headlights, I can see the road now at night. No need for extra lights. I'm not sure if the other drivers have a similarly positive and cheerful attitude about my lights.
Try rebedding your brakes first. I bet it'll fix the problem.

Am combining two good Landcruiser weekends. One involves a 70, but anyway..

Last weekend managed to get to an Ethiopian friend's wedding in Kenya, which was amazing in itself and I got a ride back to Nairobi in this:

and got to look at this:

This weekend finally set up my PUMA in the back of my 80 (thank you @LandCruiserPhil for the cotter pin setup):

Purchased a high rated bolt hanger for climbing which I screwed into the 3rd row seatbelt anchor, connected with webbing and a carabiner to the PUMA to ensure it doesn't get tossed around in the event of an impact. Color even matches the interior : )

After almost a year outside because of the lift, a buddy asked if I ever measured the other side of the garage. Sure enough one garage door opening was 1.5" taller than the other!

The truck now fits in the garage and I am beyond ecstatic. Now the new leather will never have to see the sun again.

The truck clears the opening by 1/4"

My garage is so full of stuff that I couldn't possibly fit the cruise in it. That'd be cool if I could though. I envy those with big garages and space.

This one is for you @Aloha Jen !! Went playing in some 2" of fresh powder snow
Nice....front and back poser shots followed up by a panoramic view shot....right out of the alohajen photo posting playbook.
Well, we don't have fresh powder snow here, but we do have powdery white sand beaches! Here's a couple of some holiday beach fun with the LC~

I def. need to post poseur pics more often LOL!!

Happy 2016!!

Here you go! Already christened the new tires in the mud.

This lift is an immense improvement over the old, tired suspension. I drove the truck on the old wheels and tires and it felt so much better. More stable but soaked up the bumps very well. Even my wife commented on how much better it felt.

Took the 11yo wheeling today at the local OHV park as a part of his "day with dad". Went through a puddle that was much deeper than I thought and a wave crested the hood. Truck started to lug and struggle and I got a CEL. After opening the air box the CEL went away and the truck smoothed out and was drive able again.

Now I have a clicking in the front driver-side knuckle, not sure what's causing that.
