Camped at 15°
15* temp? or angle? if it's temp it looks pretty dang balmy...my camping pic from a couple of days ago wasn't much colder than that, but it sure looked worse.

have i asked you how durable your solar panels have been? i've talked to someone, but i don't remember who. i'm the kind of person who only needs to purchase something for it to break (pretty sure my almost new fox 2.0 shocks are already crapped out, as are my bug guard and side visors, a power plug, and who knows what else) and i'd like a panel or two for permanent mount on my rtt, but it has to survive colorado winters outside.

I'm guessing the temp was accurate I had water freeze inside my 80 over nite. Another club member was camped down the road prior to the run and claimed 19° at a lower elevation. I will tell you it was way to cold for my warm blood.

My panel - You can stand/jump on it. It has had many many branch dragged across it. Being only .12" thick if it was any thicker it would not still be on the truck with the trails I frequent. It will take way more abuse than any RTT or RR.

As for handling cold temperature residing in Scottsdale AZ we dont ever see temp much below 32° I was camping in a valley 70 miles up north. I have set up several solar set up for other and a framed panel seems to be more efficient when the sun is off 90° to the panel. I have a framed 100 watt stand alone set up running a National Luna fridge on a group 34 battery in Aspen in the winter and Santa Barbara in the summer. I dont think my 100 watt thin panel would do it.

Well that's not something I wanted to hear! They were going to be my next shocks.

Amazon delivered some goods today. Going to install tomorrow so I can see at night! Just waiting on my switches and other lights! Going to do the HIR conversion thing and see how it goes.

Went wheeling in Tennessee.

Drove "The Slayer" back from Utah to it's new home in Montana.... Officially a 80 owner!

Looks great! What are the specs on suspension? 315's?

Our 17yr son went for his driver's license in our 80 (Monday) and passed. He had the choice of vehicle to go for his test and chose to go in the 80 - smart boy :)

cheers,
george.

Sheesh. What is it with boys getting their licenses late? My kid turns 17 in 2 weeks and has zero interest in getting his license. Says he can walk wherever he needs to. Puts all of his effort into his rotary license but none into his drivers. Ugh

Yeah, it's 'weird'. My 17yr old is actually 17 1/2. I guess he gets his fun driving when we go on forestry roads/tracks etc and doesn't find road driving that exciting - hence no pressing need for his license. Even with his license he hasn't even gone for a drive on his own yet - figures he's in no rush etc. We went out as a family today and he was happy for me to drive.

I think part of it is that kids in this generation have so many ways to interact (cough...) via social media etc, that they don't need to drive over to a mate's place to hang out.

cheers,
george.

That's so weird. I remember back in the day, I was so excited to get my license. I got it the day after my 16th birthday.

I know right. I went straight to the DMV to get mine on my bday.

We took two cars to the DMV on my daughter's 16th birthday. She left from the DMV in her Beetle. She was actually driving to school with her school permit when she was 15. Granted we live in Iowa and well, there's not a lot to do here. Haha.

Yea seems most kids today are happy to sit in front of there Xbox or computer instead of going out in the real world, when I was a kid my mother couldn't keep me in the house. Bought my first car at 14 to work on and get it ready for day I got my license. Luckly my 6 yr daughter loves dads cruiser and has been under working on it with me and has even drivin it across a field from my lap. Lol
