Out of Curiosity why do so many people mount their CB antenna on the front bumper?

You want the largest horizontal, flat plane you can use and be furthest away from vertical planes. Hood and roof are optimal places. On the bumper is ok as long as its high up. On the bumper, for me, kinda sucks because it's in my field of view and a distraction. Having a stigmatism in one eye doesn't help.
 
Thats what I thought. I can't stand having something like that in front of me. My antenna lives on the rear bumper on the left side.

Most of my trail coms are within a couple hundred yards at most maybe half a mile. After that the mountain and sub par mounting location make coms a bit more difficult. So I never really worried about having the most optimum antenna setup.
