Excuse my ignorance but what is the advantage of deleting the EGR?!

None. Well, perhaps the weight reduction.

If an EGR-deleted vehicle comes up against a mandated emissions test it will fail.

Didn't technically delete it but after fixing the P0401 code and having it come back and stay on for tens of thousands of miles, it was a different fix to not have to see the check engine light for that code again.

Also, I live in FL and we have zero emissions testing so don't care in that regard.

There is that.

If you should ever move to a location that mandates testing you will need to fix it. Of course you plan on disclosing the emissions modification to any prospective buyer, correct?

Yes I definitely don't plan on staying in FL forever but I will be here for another 5 years at least. When I eventually move, and if the state has emissions testing, I'll fix it then.

And I don't have to worry about disclosing anything to a prospective buyer considering this truck will never leave my ownership ;) .

That's my boy. :)

I've only had mine for 27 years. I haven't decided if I'm keeping it. :hmm:

You are an extremely valuable asset to this site and the members. I wish you could download your knowledge to me and others. You could not put a price on your knowledge and contributions. Would appreciate it if you would move next door to me.

Thanks for your input.

Spent some time working on a clock replacement. Right now, the prototype is ABS plastic, but I should have an aluminum version available after the first of the year. It works very well with light accessories, but I need to figure out how to brace it a bit better in the back for heavier things like tablets, etc.

Been thinking about this space some, any room for a single carling or OEM switch there?

I’d love to stick a double usb there to power the accessories mounted to my cubby insert...

You mentioned the pan swap. Did you remember to use the correct later oil pump drive gear and crank position sensor?
So after chatting with Cruiser Dan, I had to change out those gears and button it all back up. Well, I went to work, so my brother changed that stuff out. Thanks for catching that CruiserDan! Hopefully I will be home by new years so I can get it going! Luckily we had the block sitting right next to the rebuilt motor at that point.

So keep this in mind if using an older motor, into a newer truck. I guess if you do newer motor into older truck you can ignore that stuff since the harness wont require that sensor.

Thats how it sits now.
Merry Christmas everyone.

My PS leaks have finally gotten significant enough I need to do something about it (more than just topping it off.)

Pulled the extra PS pump out of the storage bin and started rebuilding. In the tear down I found a bent guide pin (the long one) and a dinged up bearing.

Hopefully I can still rebuild it.

Merry Christmas everyone!

IMO it would be very tight. I am not even sure any sort of oem rectangular switch would fit. There is plenty of room behind it and the wiring for the clock can probably provide the power, but the fit of the switch/s would be very tight to the bezel. I can measure it up later today and post back.

Hello Fellow FJ80 Owners-

I’ve never been on ih8mud before, so not sure if this is even OK, but I live in Germantown, TN and I have a 1997 Landcruiser that I am very reluctantly about to sell. When I say it’s a gem, I mean it’s a gem. I’m only the second owner. First owner bought it new in Texas. No rust, never seen mud, snow, or off-roading of any kind (I’m embarrassed to admit that). 151,000 original miles, mechanically perfect, brand new ARB brush guard and brand new 8000lb Warn winch. Winch cable hasn’t ever even been unwound. It’s my everyday driver, and I am selling it because my job is about to require me to drive about 30,000 miles a year and I need a pickup truck. My asking price is 14,900, but I am going to take 13,900 (firm) for it as it needs a new drivers side door handle (handle works fine, but I snapped the handle piece off trying to open it in an ice storm) and it needs a new seal on the sunroof (will leak in a heavy rainstorm. I just put gorilla tape around the edge to prevent the leak). I’m knocking $1,000 off the price to have those things fixed.

I love this rig like it was a child, and if I have to sell it, I want it to go to a Landcruiser nut like me. Attaching a few pics. My number is 901-461-3200. Please call or text for more details if interested. Listing it Saturday if it doesn’t sell before then.

Sorry if this is the wrong platform for a posting like this. Just figured FJ80 folks would know other folks looking for FJ80’s. Thanks for reading!View attachment 2166109View attachment 2166108View attachment 2166111View attachment 2166112View attachment 2166110
You should just by a cheaper truck and keep the cruiser! Very nice!

Nice looking truck! There's a classifieds section here with an 80 specific sub group. Would be a good place to make a posting.

Not Cruiser related but was cussing the whole time "why the !@#$ didn't I bring the 4Runner or the 80". My daughter and I drove out Christmas Eve to SD to surprise the wife who flew out earlier in the day. We drove back today 12/26 and encountered heavy snow from Alpine through the pass and it didn't let up till we dropped down the other side.

I seen a good looking 100, 5th Gen 4Runner and a Tacoma. Some people were driving like ass hats too.

That's pretty nuts. We were going to head out to Anza Borrego today but then saw that the 8 was closed due to snow!

It was closed shortly after we got through, so around 0900. The 100, 4Runner and the Tacoma were adminstering aid to someone that wrecked their brand new Chevy. We stopped at the bottom of the hill at Imperial Hwy and shortly there after the mentioned rigs showed up. When we pulled up there was a CPH officer, he and I spoke he told me they were planning on shutting their end of the 8 down.
