First time welding!

I hate greasing my u-joints. No matter what I do I can't get one of the zircs to line up without dropping the shaft. I recall someone recommending a 3oz gun with a needle making it easier.

It is a winner. It is so much easier and cleaner. I still will have to drop the shaft one more time as one of the joints on the difficult one didnt ooze, but it shouldn't be a problem in the future with more regular greasing.

You could move the car just a little so the shaft would rotate enough to expose the zirc.

For some reason, last time I did mine, it didn't ooze out, but the shaft itself moved quite a bit.

I am not complaining. But is it seriously possible that the inside of my AC vent is 29°? My scanner measures everything perfectly so I have to believe it. If so, I am chill.

I quit playing the "pull it forward and back" game a long time ago. I just suck at it. I now just jack it off the ground completely, put it in neutral and rotate by hand. I can never get that one zirc exposed. I think the idiot who replaced the u-joint last did it wrong. Sadly, I'm the idiot.

I don't want to piss on your campfire but i had a similar scenario just after i bought my truck. I was measuring temps below freezing and thinking way to go. Shortly afterwards it started to play up and it turned out the expansion valve was shot. I spoke with a dude who mentioned the faulty expansion valve may have caused the unregulated low temps. No idea if there is science behind this - he was just a dude and not an AC expert.

Reminds me of driving my old tacoma with 35s and a trailer full of tools and a dirt bike from Utah to Georgia and back a few times. I always stopped in Elk City Oklahoma, right off I40. There is a lake with free camping off the interstate there. Lots of fun
I stopped in Henryetta OK which has the same kind of thing going on with a lake and camping haha

the sucky part is that I am doing that drive again in 4 months probably

Awesome skill to take on, turn your heat up to ensure you're getting fusion. Play around with your settings some but you want it hotter than what you're burning at right now.

These seat gears from the passenger seat would explain no front to back movement. Upon testing before reinstalling the seat I experienced no backward movement, not even a grunt from the motor. I took apart the seat control and discovered the contact points on the rear movement selector were burned. Cleaned up the points with emery cloth, reassembled, tested, and it was good to go. Sorry no pics of the switch disassembled but if you've had the drivers window controller apart, the seat control is very similar except its even less complicated than the window control.

I am in the midst of a repaint on my daughter's 80. Started Friday afternoon tearing down. Tonight I have body repairs pretty much done. Tomorrow will be tape it up and shoot epoxy primer/sealer, take a nap, then spend the evening painting it green, then back to get it out of the way by 5 a.m. to powder coat things and earn money.

Hey I am in need of adoption, to get my Cruiser painted, can I start calling you dad , I am self sufficient, and supporting I can turn a wrench, but don't paint

Thank you sir, I knew there was a part number for those

Your Toyota parts guy in a million years would probably never have figured it out. Probably. There are very few good ones out there anymore.

They just aren't made that way anymore. They are button punchers and box kickers.

They are all about making money and fxxxing people over. Of course they WANT you to buy the entire shaft.

When I said I was painting it green, I didn't mean original 97 green. I don't hate that color but I like other greens with less blue and no metallic much better.

Ended last night with body work done, and most taping done.

After a 14 hour day today, and some good help from my daughter, we got the epoxy sealer on it, then made it green. In the early a.m. I will get it out of the shop and on my trailer to haul home and start reassembly. Turned out pretty good. A few runs but it will need a wet sand/polish to get dirt nibs out anyway.

Color looks good. Is that an aux fuel supply hole on the PS front fender? :hmm:

Finished the new leather install. Managed to spread it out over two weeks while I chased a sunroof leak and dropped the running boards and then just got lazy and let it sit for days.

I suppose you could pour fuel down it. Might flood the engine though. :D

Really, its the snorkle hole. For the record, snorkles suck to put on. They double suck to take off then have to put on again!

I did not pursue it, and my regular parts guy is pretty good, after a few years of me, educating him, when I walk in he knows I am, there for FJ80 parts, but I have been to other stealerships and had to leave, to avoid jail time
