@NLXTACY ,I need a new sticker for my back window!

Good thing you didn't cover up that Canguro Racing sticker!:steer:

Since the FJ80 is in the shop getting the Death Wobble fixed I been going through my shopping list for parts it needs.

Today I drove to Fontana for a climate control unit. 3 hours total drive

Picked up some new 12 ton jack stands.

Got some specialty tools to fix it.

Steamer to remove the nasty 24 year old tint.

Ordered some new Goodyear All Terrain Adventure Kevlar 285/75r16.

Also placed an order for custom seat brackets.

And lastly got the bill to fix the Death Wobble.
So what was the "death wobble" culprit?

Thanks for the inspiration @NC LX , might have to fefurb all the parts on my daughter's 80 when we do the knuckles.
Got my care package from @cruiseroutfit. Knuckles with Koyo bearings for my daughter's 80, tie rods for all 3 80's (getting one ready for my sis to take ownership), and a couple trinkets for the 40!

I picked up some 17" tundra wheels with 315 BFG A/T's for a really good deal and decided to try out this paint color, but not sure I'm sold on it yet. I just rattle canned it, so easy to change. Thoughts?

I think a graphite color would look better. Imo

I was so excited today, I received a call yesterday that my new Ironman 4x4 bumper had finally arrived from Australia. I've been waiting two months since ordering it. I walked into the garage to drive the 80 to MetalTech 4x4 in Newberg and found this.

Figures the wife would take the 80 to work and leave me the benz. I remembered her saying she had to pick up a large box and was going to take "The truck". I guess that's what I get for leaving fuel in the 80.

I packed up "The truck"

And picked this up.

After 45 min of unwrapping I find this.

Words cannot describe my anger. This after waiting two months for a new bumper to replace the damaged one they tried to send me in February.

Same thing happened with my Metal Tech Sliders. They apparently fell off the truck in transit. Big ding scratched to the metal. I took pictures and sent them to Metal Tech. They offered to replace the sliders at no cost to me. Instead I had them send me a can of matching spray paint. I just primed it and painted over the ding. I have since scratched the s#!t out of them in a lot of places and used that can of paint over and over again. They still look like new if you don't get real close up. Ask them for a discount due to damage. They will work with you. Sometimes benefits come in strange ways. How long do you think it would have been till you scratched that bumper. This way you are getting a really nice bumper and at a significant discount.

I have also used that same can of paint on my ARB bumper. Let it dry for a couple of hot months, polish it and it blends right in.

An individual on this thread asked about my Ram mounts and how they were set up so I thought I would post up photos. All of these ideas for mounting my electronic devices I got from other people on Mud, just not all from the same person. The iPad is mounted on a post mount I bought from Ram Mount. My telephone and GPS unit are also mounted on Ram mounts which are attached to the driver's hand-hold. I can still grab the handhold to get in or out and the devices are far enough from my face to never be in the way or cause a safety hazard. I have a "Dual"-brand GPS unit on the dash that connects to my iPad and I use Trimble Pro maps which provide Streets, Satillite and Topographical overlays so I can see exactly where I am when out of cell phone range. I am always aware of the terrain characteristics around me. All devices are wired behind the dash into a BlueSea fuse box in the glove compartment (with the exception of the iPad) so they are always on when the vehicel is on. I have no wiring mess on my dash. I'll probably wire the iPad tomorrow and hide that wire as well. No matter how much I am bouncing around nothing ever falls off my windshield, dash or console now. It is all VERY secure which keeps my focus on where the truck is headed. As you can see from the photos of the iPad mount, it is never in the way of the passenger. In fact, your leg never even rubs agains it. It mounts to the front bolt of the left passenger seat rail. It is nowhere close to the airbag. It can be easily turned so the passenger can navigate for you if you need to pay attention to a thin mountain-side trail ahead. Hope this is helpful to anyone trying to figure out how to "tie everything down" when wheeling across rough terrain. These mounts work like a charm and don't take up valuable (and limited) surface space such as your console.

I have the ARB fridge hooked up constantly but not powered on.

Just installed a new Head unit a month ago or so

And lastly but maybe most suspect is the scanguage after reading of @NLXTACY experience. Was there a date or serial number range for the units in question?

Hi,

Nice combo, just curious which front bumper you got on your FZJ80?

thanks and cheers,
Chris

Hey chris, its an AOE. American overland expedition. Love the bumper. The buying process can be frustrating however.
