I had a license plate bulb out and after looking at the 20 + years of RUST on the license plate bulb screws that were just a ball of rust with no defined slots for a screw driver anymore I grabbed my vice grips with the help of some WD-40 and got the screws out !! Thinking ahead I ordered from Mr. T some screws ( X4 ) and gaskets ( X2 )and the bulb covers ( X2 ) and I'm glad I did, the gaskets were shot and one of the covers was cracked.. All Good Now and added some LED's since I was there.

So after that I went ahead and did the LED"s in the Map and Dome Lamps + Door Panels with some cheep LED's I picked up off Ebay...

View attachment 1396685 In anticipation of the new Prinsu rack showing up this week and never waxing the roof again.

I clayed, I show glaze #7'd and carnuba'd the roof, and the hood for good measure. Then it rained.

Nothing like a good bead on fresh wax.
Long live Antique sage!!
I looooove the clay bar! Once I discovered what it could do- I was hooked!!

So you found a bit of moisture in the oil cap and are going to replace the motor,,, why? Crankcase moisture is normal, especially with cool weather and with infrequent, short trip driving.

Nah, I'm not replacing the motor because of this. It's due for a rebuild. 334k. Using 5-6 quarts of oil per 5k miles. Not leaking but using. It's sluggish compared to my 92 3FE. It's due.

The amount of gunk under the cap was a bit alarming for a DD. It sees about 300-400 miles per week with few short trips.

Since I have a spare motor that I can rebuild on a stand it makes sense to do it and swap them out.

If I didn't have a spare motor I'd keep driving it and say FAWK it!

Drove to Colorado to help my sister move. It snowed

It rained, then froze, then snowed. 17 degrees F. Door locks were all frozen. The keyless entry relays were stuck. Took 10 minutes to get into it.

Towed a u-haul 1300 miles.

The fan clutch gave out on the return trip to San Diego in Vegas, I knew it was on it's last leg, but hadn't gotten around to it. The fan was flopping around like a fish in there. I removed the fan and carried on, monitored temps with OBD app. All went well with no fan all the way to San Diego temps were fine even with the trailer.

Good to see it in it's native habitat!:hillbilly:

Ha! Yea it was literally my first time driving it since I bought it. Maiden voyage to gas station to fill up....tried to have it inspected (Austin) and some pencil pusher from the Gov't had all the inspection stations in the area shutdown to "recalibrate" their exhaust sniffers....drove it back to the shop....more work to follow before bringing it home.

Mind throwing up a picture? I didn't see anything listed on his website.

I highly recommend installing when it is warm. I installed when it was about 50 degrees and nighttime. That sucked. Let it sit in the sun and warm up then install.

Also, always better to cut too short or too small and make multiple cuts. I got in a hurry and made a mistake on the tranny hump. I used the carpet as a template. DO NOT DO THAT!!

It has relaxed quite a bit since installation.

Use Thermozite insulation underneath. @reevesci can tell you where to buy it and how much you will need. Add a couple extra feet to that because you will find you want to double it up in a few spots. Like under the center console.

I will be placing another order soon and bringing in some extra vinyl 80 kits. The vinyl is a laborious project, especially in the cooler months. I recommend waiting until late spring before tackling this. Patience and attention to detail are the keys for a successful instal of this product.

I will be adding them to the website in the next few weeks.

The Thermozite can be purchased here in single and double sided.

Thermozite Insulator Padding - Sound & Heat Solution

80 series I would order 4 yards and that will give you enough to double up on the transmission tunnel, firewall and DS/PS front pan areas.

Took the 80 up to our place near Tahoe for a weekend of skiing.

Doing what the 80 does best, hauling us up there without a hitch, and getting over 400 miles on the main tank before the 5 gallon light came on. You have to love diesel, turning what was previously a two-fill-up round trip, to an easy no-additional fuel needed trip.

Scheduled appointment on Wednesday to have tires installed and an alignment.

Decided to wash and wet sand the hood for the occasion. Good news is it looks amazing and overdue. Bad news is I have to finish it now...
