Went and played prerunner on the dunes. Was my daughter's first time wheeling, and she seemed to enjoy it.

Backed out of the driveway today. Was backing out and gave it a little gas and the revs jumped to about 2000 like it shifted in to neutral. I let off the gas. Gave it a little gas again and it was fine.

Is this the NSS or kick down cable or something else? I don't know much (anything) about transmissions...

Did you go above 10mph while backing out?

Every time I dick with the electronic or intake system, I get one rpm spike that does not recur. Last time was when I redid my valve cover seals.

No. don't think so.
Years ago mine had the same slip but would be at above 10 mph (don't know why I was backing up so fast...) but turned out to be a bad connection at the NSS...

I either have wide tires or a short railing.

I just got new tires as well, they sent 3 yesterday and the 4th I'm told was just delivered now. Have to wait until Saturday to mount them.

I assume that most tire shops can handle bigger tires (285/75) and I don't have to go somewhere special.

My 80 series has gained weight over the last two years and the RadFlo rear shocks, which were perfect for a truck that had a 2.5 inch lift but weighed closer to stock (mine is armored, dual swing out, ARB fridge, sleeping shelve, recovery gear), were not as stiff as I needed for the extra weight.
I had already put a set of Slee's on the front and ordered some King Adjustable Reservoir shocks for the rear. Because I was traveling out west and did not have access to a lift or floor jack, I went to see Brian at BTB in Henderson NV. Great shop, full of cruisers, and Brian and his crew were really cool. They pulled the RadFlo's off and mounted the Kings. I took it out later that day and the suspension is now firm enough to control this heavy vehicle. The RadFlo's that we pulled off looked to be in great shape for 10K miles, and I think with a rebuild, they will be as good as new, so I will sell those on the classifieds. Last photo is the Slee shock in front.

Yeah, that size is pretty common. It's when you get into bigger sizes that some shops have difficulties. What'd ya end up going with?

Another beautiful beach day with the 80. Photos have been properly censored to keep the moderators happy and to not offend the members here that are bothered by what is probably the most common piece of apparel worn at any beach, lake, or pool across the country.

What better way to top off a day at the beach then with some spicey grilled shrimp!
