Worked on header wrap, heat shield, smaller supercharger pulley, new bypass valve and hose, refitting intercooler, charcoal canister and mount for my sub fuse box. Getting close.

Got a few things done this weekend... brand new windshield wipers too! That steering damper swap was a PITA!! I almost gave up but thanks to the forum, I knew it could be done with a BFH and a ball joint separator ah!

Question for the steering damper : Are these acceptable gaps or should I crank it even more?

And the river 3000' below. You can still hear the falls. Pretty freaking awesome. Tough trip down into the Gorge but I'm gonna keep doing it until I can't anymore. I visited three petroglyph sites yesterday. And learned about a few more...

Ive been wanting to do the hike down to nor fork, but chicken out when I think about going back up...lol

Lots of sooty blue grouse on that ridge and mountain quail ;)

I want to do a day run and fish down there...looks brutal though, 3000ft drop is a long way...

found my drivers rear W/B had just a tad bit of play, could hear it more than feel it. So a snug up a W/B 20 min job turns into rebuilding the rear hub with what looked to be good bearings, but once I get the preload right there is a slight rubbing noise so Ordered all new stuff for both sides. While doing this noticed a small rust hole in the rear quarter that was not manifesting when I fixed the other side a month ago. SO that has turned into a nightmare, today spent 4 hours burning holes in body work and a new FR shirt

@RolandFJ40 - we have a pop-up camper roughly the same size as yours. How does your Land Cruiser do towing it? We are planning a fall trip to Arcadia NP this September, and we want to tow ours up there.

It's great when mountains aren't a factor lol. A few times I had to put my hazards on... Temps stayed around 200 deg. going up hill, no AC on either.

Clocked 900 miles on the road this weekend and found out couple of things:

1. Roof rack does kill MPG a little, same stretch of highway I got 2 more MPG without roof rack and that's with the low profile Prinsu rack which I love. Now I'm thinking about how to improve aero dynamic of it, shouldn't be too hard since it's so low profile.

2. the el cheapo thermozite insulation really works! 900 miles this weekend with good chunk of it in 90+ degree weather the tranny tunnel and center console NEVER got hot!!!!!!! Usually the floor gets nice and warm and the center console gets hot on long drives especially in warm weather, not this weekend! My feet never got hot! Not bad for 80 dollars!

Oh and I saw this on the grapevine:

probably blew a head gasket as well! or the tranny blew? or it broke an axle? I give up...it could be a few hundred different things.

It's a jeep! More you take it to the mechanics the more character it builds! Plus it is as American as apple pie. You can't fault that!

It's as American as pasta, oh wait it's really Chinese........

@Qball you can't say the word "chinese" in front of joey!

although if the fire extinguisher mounts and lock boxes were made in china, they would be $9.99 each...and all three for just $27.95!

Looks to me that you need some metal washers so that the body of the damper does not touc anything during operation.
