What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

i would be thrilled to get my hands on some front 1/4 windows.
I looked into that and it turned out that the entire door is made differently. The dividing piece between the windows runs down into the door for support for starters so you’d need that. Different main window glass and different regulator, and different seals. Then the mirror is in a different spot because of the divider bar. It’s a lot.

this is 100% the only reason why i dont have them in mine. You need the entire door. what a pain in the butt. on the mini trucks and 4runners from the 80s you just slap the parts in, but the 60 series is different

I can’t find anyone who makes them and the Toyota ones are long OOP
It is a lot... when I scored mine from @TRAIL TAILOR I was trilled, but sat on them for a couple of years (if not more)....I restored them best I could..., but really other than surface rust these were in great shape and even better once i finished installing them.....
I just dread the moment i'll have to replace the weatherstripping...
This website has some in stock but yeah the price is prohibitive at best... @AussieHJ6X i say this is the best you will get at getting spare parts..... I looked up Amayama when i was installing mine, and they did have some spare parts still available... don't know about now days....

If it wasn’t such a gigantic pain in the ass I’d already have them but like others have said it’s not really the 1/4 windows that are hard to source….its all the other crap that is needed to run them. Seems the best solution is to just import complete doors. I use the word “best” lightly though. Sigh….

which ones are you after
The main ¼ window weatherstrip is PN 68181-90A00/68182-90A00. There’s also a channel and a smaller weatherstrip on the frame which aren’t available separately, and for over AU$350 for a pair for the frame sub-assy I’m sure I care THAT much to replace them.

I haven’t pulled one apart to check, but I think that some of the rubber that is worn might also be part of the ‘bar sub-assembly’ dividing the 1/4 window from the main window, which is also discontinued

But yes, if you want some on yours by far the ‘easiest’ thing to do is to source complete doors. If anybody is really keen I can keep my eye out for anyone wrecking a 60 with the ¼ windows down here in Aus, although I imagine freight to the States would be pretty ridiculous.

Here’s a copy of what I sent to some of my wheeling buddies here at home. Very pleased with the new riding comfort AND the Tuffy Center Console. My 60 is not quiet but almost a DD for me, so these minor upgrades will be much appreciated.

you can get the 1/4 window weather stripping from rubber seals australia pretty easy!

Hacked up a junk yard set of seat rails via BTB, and welded them onto some 2004 Subaru forester seats (also from a junk yard) Sits a hair taller than stock. Going to drive them for a few weeks before I commit to recovering with factory material, which you guys know is almost as expensive as gas these days. The color is close enough to not be offensive. Passenger seat is manual but the drivers is all electric and they came with heating elements.

Total investment $150

Recently drove 260 miles to go camping, not far, but far enough to realize that holding the gas pedal really makes my ankle start to ache. The cruiser drove great my gas pedal foot was the only issue. So dug up this old thread, ordered the cable. Took about 40 minutes to install, super easy. I have to say it works great, drove it around and it is easy to set and super easy to disengage. I don’t see myself using for extended periods of time, but will be nice to stretch out the gas foot every now and then on those longer drives.

I’m lucky enough to have a factory hand throttle on mine and I definitely wouldn’t ever use it as a poor man’s cruise control, but it’s a handy mod to have and looks like a nice clean install!

I did most of the re-assembly work for my cooling/turbo refresh this weekend.

Turbo is all reassembled with new gaskets and new clamps/hardware in cases where the old ones were too rusty or weren’t genuine. Coolant and oil hardlines were electroplated so they hopefully last another 40 years! Also drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold for an EGT gauge while the turbo was off

Cooling system has had the same treatment. New gaskets, new clamps and hardware where needed. New water pump, fan clutch, belts, thermostat, temp sensor, and a couple of hoses. New radiator goes in tomorrow and then it should be running like a dream

Definitely not going to use it for long periods of time, but to stretch that gas pedal foot every so often on long drives. Might be the best 50 dollars I have spent on my FJ 60.

Finally installed the new carpet I’ve had for the past year.
