I was hoping wed get some rain today but there was not one cloud in the sky. hahaha
Funny how this works. Forecast was clear and sunny for 10 days out so I waxed my hood. The very next day it sprinkled enough to ruin the effect.
Maybe you should try the wax spell yourself? šŸ˜‚

Got the rear cargo area sound proofing laid out, along with a good dry fit of he cargo area rug, kit courtesy of @dnp . I also installed a wireless winch controller from Warn. I love this setup as I use my winch around the property to drag trees etc so not being tethered to the truck is great. This rug, really ties the cargo area togetheršŸ˜€

I over did the kilmatt and insulation on the rear quarters and bed just to find out I still got a lot of road noise mostly coming from the tailgate area. Besides the old weather strip leaking air and noise, there is a bit of a gap between the upper hatch and tailgate.

Thanks for the information, good to know! I took it for a test drive and definitely notice the improvement. My tires love to throw big pebbles into the wheel arches and the damping made for less noise.

haha ill give it a shot, Mr Miyagi would be proud

How does the new hood liner compare to the old? Same thickness, etc? Also do you have the part number and a ballpark on costs?
Thank you!

My old hood insulator was in pretty bad shape. The thickness on the new one is slightly less but I attribute that to almost 40 years of use and moisture absorption for the original one. Here is the part number for reference. I got mine for ~300. Prices are all over the place but be careful as many will ship them but fold them up

@DrRock that looks outstanding! Happen to have the part # for the push on clip holders?
Thanks.

love the sound as mine is still stock and it is not that roar of a V8.
I updated my stock 2F to a full stainless 2.5" system from @OTRAMM which unfortunately NLA. The sound is great, plus I get to enjoy all the benefits of an inherently balanced inline 6 engine if that's your thing. That said, a competent exhaust shop could fabricate one fairly easily as the run isn't that complicated.

My local Toyota dealership. They are still in stock and saves on shipping.
The new hood insulator is a game changer on the appearance under the hood!

haha it used to be much quieter when i had the tailpipe exiting behind the rear axle, but it dumps down now after the muffler and the sound bounces off the ground.

I was thinking of making some of these for 2fs and 3fes using stainlessbros 304ss and vbands and stuff but since moving, i dont have any test vehicles to use to get any Jigs made up. You are right though, the exhaust on the 60 series with the original motors are really easy to make and really simple
