Thread on this recently. I never could figure out why mine quite working after switching to the Koito OEM upgrade kit. Got an ARB harness which made the HBI work again for me. But had heard some of the LED lights make it stop. Texas requires it to pass inspection. Ironic that I fail a safety inspection because of the HBI not working after trying to make my truck more safe with better headlights. But is what it is. LED fix for the HBI is hit or miss. Works for some, doesn't for others. I went ARB and never looked back.

Looks awesome! However, my eye is drawn to the big blank spot in the drivers position. I’m no graphic designer, but to my amateur eye it seems like something should be there….
Like a 60s owner with a big grin on his face… yeah that’s it!

Or maybe a German Shepard in the drivers seat?! Yes. That’s what it needs.

Took my cruiser for a solo winter adventure today. Tested out the rear Auburn LSD with 4wd and winter tires for the first time. Very impressed. The AT Oil temp light kicked on for the first time getting up there. Apparently it’s possible to overheat these transmissions at 0F if you block the radiator/cooler. As much as I appreciated the auto today, I’m still dreaming about an H55…

Here’s an edit of mostly drone footage.

Put a (long overdue) new Optima battery in and installed a quick connect for a battery tender. Tucks nicely out of the way when not in use.

Greased the leaf pads and took it for a cruise. Got home and the noticed a smell and smoke coming from the right rear wheel well. All new brakes over a year ago no issues. The wheel itself was even hot to the touch, pulled the drum when it cooled enough and everything looked fine. There was a pile of brake pad dust inside drum. All I can figure is the E-brake might have over adjusted when I backed out? When I did the job, I thought that all the shoe adjustment was controlled by the E-brake. Is there another adjustment that is needed?

It self adjusts when you brake in reverse. That being said, there are threads here detailing the over adjusting. It’s been a while since I read up on it so my memory is foggy, but you should be able to use two flatheads to back the shoes off a bit… but I forget what the actual cause of the problem is and what the ultimate solution is.

Looking For both feelers here and also help making a very important Decision to PULL A Teq Trigger or NOT ?

Please Help and Please Subscribe :)

thanks

@4runner2FJ60

I have been dealing with the same issue. I copied this picture from a thread that I can't find anymore & think I will try the washer also. Hopefully, that stops the over adjustment.

I believe this is the thread you’re looking for. Adding a washer (maybe two) stopped my DS rear brake from overadjusting.

how does the rear Drums brakes system on a 60/62 self adjust in reverse or only in reverse ?

Fair but we were first... lol
It could have happened before, but @wngrog used the term "6T series" It's not that FJ Cruisers suck, it's that they are not Land Cruisers. If you have a functioning solid axle LC, you have a certain license. It's fun to bring up that the "j" in FJ = "Jeep". Back in those days, "Jeep" was a general term for for a small 4x4 general purpose vehicle. FJ meant F engine Jeep. Now, Chrysler patented the "Jeep" name so that's taboo. That and Jeeps have a reputation that that is land Cruiser guys don't want to be associated with. They are on our side, both FJ's and Jeeps, but FJ's put us more in line with Jeeps and we hate it. Speaking on presumption.
