Finally my first Land Cruiser HJ61 is lifted and spareparts ordered!
Just a small leak from the aft pinion and front knuckle seal but good to have a nice bearing and sealkit for the summer.
Just weeks from getting it on the road and really try out the turbo and lockers😜Driving is the best troubleshoot🤣👍🏻

LOVE THIS!

You can put fold-down tables and other stuff on barn doors so its quick to set up kitchen at camp.

Also if you have sliding drawers in the rear, the tailgate will be pretty useless, since you can't have anything on it or you won't be able to access all your food and supplies in those drawers since they will knock everything off when you open them! Only thing the tailgate is good for is sitting on it. I can bring chairs for that.

To each their own...

Congrats man! Our Cruiser is sitting at a shop right now, awaiting that sweet H55 treatment.
I’m tellin ya...the 4.10 gears with the H55 made me fall in love all over again. They should’ve come from
the factory this way. Accelerating uphills is my new favorite thing!

I made an Excel spreadsheet for gear ratios this weekend. I could see what you mean just by the numbers. Has anyone tried the H55 with 3.70's and a 3.1:1 transfer case? (7% reduction in high range). Looks good on paper.

Also, look what this poor fellow did to his 80 this weekend in Moab. Slow roll on Golden Spike Trail. 😰
Saw him driving to get plexiglass, felt so bad I had to offer my condolences.

Barn doors have their place...

IDK... after seeing those ambulance doors I love having a tailgate.

Son, your supposed to be cleaning the windows, not making happy faces:rofl:

I love having a tailgate.
Dont get me wrong.. I too love my tailgate set up.... but if I had a pop-up ..... I might like the barn doors better for an easier point of entry...but tailgates are def great specially for that so elusive real state for storage and what not.... !!!

You can store stuff in barn doors too.

But the most useless setup is the 4runner where the whole hatch lifts up. You can't do anything with it because it's all needed for the mechanism for moving the window up and down which is a nice option except it makes the rear hatch useless except for keeping the rain off when you lift it up. At least the 60 has a tailgate which is one step up the usefulness ladder towards barn doors. 🔥 😤 🔥

The 4runner hatch is for urbanites who open their rear hatch in shopping mall parking lots and don't have space for barn doors (or a tailgate).

Where did you get the headlight assembly pieces? (the metal pieces around the headlight bulb that hold it in place) The screws on mine are always coming loose due to some warping in the metal

The chrome/stainless headlight rings? Still available new from Toyota, and the tiny screws too that are usually quite rusty.

Made progress on reinstallation and adding shiny bits. A failed water pump has turned into a cooling system overhaul, timing cover gasket, and front crank seal. pics are in reverse order #whileyoureinthere

I’ve got all new hoses for the top of the engine too but can’t find the two identical ones highlighted in green in any parts diagrams (last photo).

Anyone know the part number is or what they’re called? It’s an 89 fj62.
