Built a new shroud...
Thanks at @JohnCapoccia for the cutting and bending on these...

Took an idea, got together with @nvrlose54 and fabbed up a hammock hanger for my FJ60.

A pair of vertical tabs, 1/2" thick plate with a pair of 1" diameter holes, were welded to the ARB. The rod is 3/4" inner diameter, 1" outer diameter, pipe from the plumbing section at Lowes.

Rear plates are 3/16" thick, notched to fit around the upper gate bump stop and bolted to the body using M8 x 1.25 nutserts.

Perfect fit of the plate between the upper gate and body.

Tested it with both a shallow hammock and a deeper one and this will work with either.

We need to rework the rear plates, they need to be about 3" longer. Easy fix. As they are they are if the upper gate is closed the rear wiper interferes with running the rod through both brackets.

Second issue is pipe strength. I found that the placement of the hammock must be near the body Cruiser to prevent the pipe from bending.

What stronger pipe alternatives are available, and not prohibitively costly? Could the inner space of the pipe be filled with something to add strength?

System works, with a couple of tweaks will work better.

Also, it may not be bad if the tube is deflecting under load as long as it’s not denting at the supports or remaining bent after use. There’s a safe area of elastic deformation and it differs with material strength and cross section.

Took it and it’s more expensive high maintenance sibling camping.

Also taught my 11 yr old how to drive a stick. It is also hilarious trying to teach my 9 yr old daughter you have to old the handle up to lock the doors. She said “Doesn’t the button on the key lock it”

Gearing up for camping next weekend, so been prepping. Installed trailer wiring, completed and torqued hitch bolts, checked fluids. First time towing anything with the Cruiser

The FJ62 has a tranny cooler and transmission just serviced with new seals. The trailer is a Coleman Taos (smallest they made) dry weight of 1000lbs plus 200lbs of gear. Been reading up on towing capacity and warnings but I think she will do just fine.

A little more than just the weekend ;). So far have racked up 2000+ miles from Alabama to Mississippi to Louisiana to New Mexico and finally Arizona, oh yeah, and Texas.

Rebuilt 2F with about 250K on the engine, H55F, 33 x 10.5 KM3s (rolling good @wngrog), getting about 13-14 mpg.

The Chiricahuas are awesome. Looks like you hit white sands in NM too. Another great place.

@wngrog are you planning a cyclonic air cleaner? Is that a surge tank or a vapour canister by the coolant bottle?

I run the stock air cleaners on my fuel injections. I have snorkels so I have modified the intake to exit the passenger side

This is a photo of the engine bay with the AFI tbi. It will look the same after the Sniper.

The tank is a PowerSurge Fuel pump system. I used it on my FJ55 with Sniper and it is absolutely awesome
