Bring that thing to my house and we can put some Sierra pin striping on it.:D. Does look nice though.
Nice country up there. Been to many places in your neighborhood including Whitney Portal, Fishing up around Bishop Creek Lodge, and hit some trails on the way back into town. After 30 years a facelift is warranted.

Sitting next to a classic vw bug in the parking lot and got kinda artsy fartsy

Rebuilt the OEM carb (thanks Kurt for the rebuild kit) and swapped it out with the surrogate Trollhole carb that was in for only about 100 miles. Lo' and behold she runs better then ever. There is no low RPM hesitation like the TH carb exhibits, throttle no longer sticks, and the secondary works (TH's did not) - no reply from Marshall, I'm sure he's busy, but I'll probably try to get his take on the problems. For now the rebuilt carb is gonna stay in with the TH as a backup. No longer scared of the carb. 'Bit of a PITA but with the FSM and Pinhead's videos on the You Tubes, it's wasn't too bad. On to some camping trips....finally.

Drove it for the first time in forever. Between being down for the winter and massive oil leaks I haven't been out with her. I got some leaks under control and winter is thinking about being over so I took it up to my daughter's high school to watch her sing for a choir featival this morning. I found her 80 in the student lot and parked behind it for a poser shot.

I'm making her bring it to my shop after school to power wash it!

@chichiflys

My trollhole carb had a bad secondary out of the box. The linkage was bent and he offered to send me a new one. But when you know of several people with the same complaints, how is it an isolated incident? I draw no distinction between a $76 eBay carb and the TH aside from the price.

I recently took of a 10,000 mile trollhole that had a poor functioning primary circuit. It had huge amounts of metallic particles in the bowl and jets.

I put on a borrowed 200,000 mile never been touched Aisan carb and it ran better.

I bought the city racer carb and have been way impressed. The TH carb is now a door stop for my shed.

Speaking of carbs and secondaries.....

Replaced my secondary diaphragm that was no longer holding vacuum. Diaphragm was still ok, but the gasket
around the edge had cracked and a large chunk was gone. Found the replacement at NAPA for $13.

After the paperclip test it still doesn't seem to be drawing the secondary open enough. Time now to bend the linkage tab to see if that does the trick.

better get on the permenant fix for the egr inlet pipe before that rubber plug splits some more and lets the air in...

@Rustic76 you need to post your before pictures with your 4plus bumper to compare and contrast the ARB. I personally dig the 4plus. Your cruiser looks sharp though.

Not the best pics but do you mean this one?

Went fishing today with a buddy. Here's my 62 parked by a couple of his 62's.

I installed rear shoulder belts, sound deadener, and cleaned the headliner. I can’t believe how much dirt came out, and how much cleaner and brighter it is!

I used the upholstery wand on the carpet cleaner. Sprayed it with cleaner, and went over it with a soft brush. Then rinsed with the upholstery wand. The water was almost black in the machine.

This is interesting. They layed the covers from the upper hatch in the truck when it went through paint at the factory

I haven’t posted up in here for a while. Just been driving the thing. ODO will roll over again tomorrow...

Been thinking of a few things I want do to before SAS. Dual batteries, fridge, and a real roof rack and awning are high on the list. H55 or new input gear and 4.88’s too, but leaning heavily towards H55.

I got back from the dog park this morning and found a package at the door.. Stainless tray!

Mounted it up and made a bracket to hold my overflow bottle.

Then @red66toy came by (thanks again for the  ) and we poked around looking for a rough idle issue, found the EGR tube missing the crush ring around the lower connection, and think the EGR valve may be leaking a bit.

I also noticed that my 89 doesn’t have nuts where the new drivers aide battery tray mounts. (The kit didn’t come with nuts for these).

Chase’s 88 does. Another model year peculiarity I suppose. At least I got the rear shoulder belts!

Finished up the evening cutting out the old rear frame ends/crossmember and welding in new stuff on my FJ40. Good Cruiser day!

Went camping in New Mexico, it was fun to finally get out of town. Drove in what seemed to be the dust bowl to get to the mountains. First real test of the KO2's as the fire roads were muddy in some areas, still happy with my tire choice. Discovered that I need a chainsaw for the campfire, getting wood to burn every 30 min got old. Overall the trip went well until about half an hour of town I noticed a ticking sound that was getting loud. Made it home and surprise, time for a new manifold gasket.

That being said, anyone have experience with the Man-A-Fre headers? They look like they are well made.
