After cleaning up Friday night's debacle (Ever had your wheel come off at 55 MPH? I did...), set out today to install a power panel in the back and start preparing for a custom drawer build. Took out the old ratty carpet, going to dynamat the floor before putting the cargo box base down. Took out the rear cargo light in anticipation of receiving new LED interior lights from Odd Iron Offroad that should be here tomorrow.

New power panel wired up and installed; tapped into the hot 12V wire going to the rear cargo light:

Then went and visited my buddy and VFA-195 squadronmate, Nathan "OJ" White, at Arlington National Cemetery. OJ was shot down over Iraq 14 years ago tonight. OJ never had a Land Cruiser as far as I know, but being from Texas and later Utah he would've loved our passion and lifestyle and maybe have picked up an FJ60/62 of his own - he loved the outdoors. Rest in Peace, old friend.

I am a little extra grateful this morning for all the good things in my life. I don't normally jump in on such personal matters as others usually say it better. However this morning I was particularly touched by your comments on your friend.

Memorial Service Held at Sea for Fallen Aviator

Fallen Heroes Memorial: Navy Lt. Nathan D. White

I'm not much for formally praying due to my catholic upbringing. However I will keep Lt. White and his family in my thoughts and prayers today. Thanks for posting a little something about him.

I set up, and took apart everything to start my Alternator swap, power steering Saginaw conversion, AC compressor replacement, fan clutch replacement, Dual battery set up, starter replacement, distributor replacement, Thermostat Replacement, Water Pump Placement, Cab Heater Core replacement, all belts, hoses, plugs, wires, Fuel and Oil Filter replacement, Manifold Gasket, Valve Cover Gasket, Radiator Flush, deep cleaning, Power antenna addition, Inclinometer addition, camber/shim fix. Got my cleaners working hard..for ice cream trade. Never done any of these things, but I have been reading MUD for years and with all the knowledge from this place, I feel like I can do it. Everyone has been helpful and my disassembly has gone remarkably smooth. Now to clean and put it all back together. See you all again soon. ~Let me know if there is something else I should be doing while I have her open!!!!

@erse, thank you for the kind words and thoughts, for posting those links, and for learning a bit more about OJ (that was his call sign). This is why I love being a part of this community.

Rubbed her fender to fender like a horny teenage boy ogling a Vickis catalog. Yeah I'm a chick but I can only get away w/ comments like that here! Forgive me if it's too much for some of you.

From the right to the left.... Side cover and new gasket reinstalled. Reinstalled alt bracket and alt. Reinstalled recurved diz (rotor is pointing where she was when I removed the diz).
Removed Volvo power steering pump and the bracket. Put the new to me graciously fresh painted stock pump onto the bracket w/ the pulley from @JustinJawbreaker. Waiting for my early bday present to me, a battery powered impact wrench to charge up so I can tighten the pulley nut and get the pump installed.
Getting there!

View attachment 1437682 Installed meat curtains on both sides of my front wheel wells. I was missing most of the cover on both sides and I could see some gunk was getting kicked up into the engine. All better now!

Speaking of "meat curtains"... I installed a set of @reevesci Trail Tailor aprons the other week, and I'm very impressed with the cut and quality. Better than OEM, in my opinion. Anybody looking to replace their tattered or missing aprons, will be very happy with these. Thanks Jason.
