What did you do to your pig today?

Broke the powersteering fanbelt on the way to work yesterday...still made it on time though, Pighead has arms like Popeye. Ige found me a replacement and I put it on during lunch. It was too short and too skinny for my liking (a 7459) but got us home. Today went to Napa and bought a 9470 which I like better. What I also like about Napa: Not once did the guy behind the counter ask me what vehicle it was for, which I was all ready to tell him it wouldn't help. I just showed him the busted one and said I want one longer and thicker...

Then, I organdized the back seat area...cleaned out much of the trash that has been accumulating there, even vacuumed! I re-arranged and shortened the old passenger seatbelts to hold the hi-lift and recovery gearbag down, which I hear is a good thing.

Today I soldered up the radiator overflow port. I took off my exhaust and welded up some leaky joints, I fabbed up a wooden bumper until my new steel one comes, I mounted passenger side rear view mirror. Put a stiffer spring on my throttle linkage on the carb.
This follows on last week's work where I took my aftermarket headers to the machine shop to mill out the stud holes so the washer would align with the mate on the intake manifold. That cured a host of ills, the least of which was a nasty backfire. That necessitated extending the muffler a bit from the headers. Now I could get my carb to run right and not compensate for the exhaust leak. The biggest bummer to the week was at the celebratory car wash, my backup light lens fell off!

Threw some fuel down her throat, put a battery in her and started her up.... briefly... Fuel pump not getting fuel to carb. may need to prime it...some many things to do to make it drive-able AND safe to do so... Brakes are in a sorry state.

Need to something with this piggy, been sitting way too long...

Just realized I haven't logged into IH8MUD since September... of 2011....

WTF have I been doing??? That's right, nothing with the piggy and paying off a metric ***-ton of debt.

Which Piggy is yours? We need refresher pics!

Ordered vinyl for all the panels and picked up a roll of outdoor carpet (charcoal) at Target for the cargo area. Installed lower dash pad as well.

Are you making new door panels?
I was thinking about the same. Wondering where to get short little staples for putting on new vinyl? I think I need ~1/8" staples. Not sure where to source these...

Yes, I make my own. I use 1/4" staples, headliner material for padding, adhesive spray and just roll the vinyl under (double the thickness) when I stretch it and staple. I also use 1/8" hardboard for the doors and 1/4" for rear cargo panels (extra strength for speakers). Never had a staple come through/loose using this technique.

Here's a couple pics from my 60 I did recently.

reevesci- Those panels look really well done. I don't see how they are attached. Are they being held on by the door components? Glue?

x2 - how are you using the adhesive/glue?

Thanks Jason!
I have a friend trying to talk me into making my own door panels, so trying to gather all the background info I can on this.
The headliner material you used for padding looks fairly thick. I was thinking of using a thin layer of flannel between the hardboard and the vinyl.
Do you use 3M spray adhesive?
