Found some new spare parts for my Pig...under that air rail and manifolds is the Late F head. Same as the one I'm running on my 2F now.

Something about the chambers being slightly smaller on the late F head than the 2F head...increases compression slightly when put on an early 2F block. Think my block is a '76.
Plus, the oiling system is compatible, so it's a direct bolt-on.

'76 2F came with flat-top pistons, yes? And my '78 has domed pistons?

Had my springs rebuilt, did a spring over and put her back on the ground . Holy crap ! Something wrong here there's like 2 ft of travel!

I thought only the F engine had the flat top pistons? The late F block outside has domed pistons...

Gonzo,

When you had the springs rebuilt, did they re-arch them, to factory specs. or add new leaves. Maybe, they just need to settle down some.

They added 2 inches to arch the tires on there are 31" I think when I go to 36 it will be fine ? It should settle. As soon as it does I will be able to get into it :)

Looks about right to me. After really flattening out my originals, I put on a set of SOR's HD springs. They sat pretty high. I welded in bump stops that would hit before I rubbed my 35s in the fenders and they work fine. They did sink a couple of inches after I put some miles on it with a bunch of gear in the back. John

seriously guys? the roof is gonna be 8ft high with 36" tires and those springs, just my opinion, but with 37" tires i can still drive in my 7ft garage door.

YOU! You drove away right as I was walking over the check out your BA piggie. My buddy and I were drooling though. VERY VERY nice looking pig. Sorry I didn't get to see it up close.

I saw a Pig with the Nevada City licience plate ring, I was wondering if that was you. Sorry we did not meet up. I grew up in Rough and Ready and still have family there . Perhaps I can stop by and see your pigs when I go visit.

For sure! Let me know next time you come up, I actually live right off 49 so not much of a detour at all.

We didn't drive a cruiser down, none of them were running well enough and my friend was hoping to find a set of tires so we took my ford.

Looks like you have about 2-3 inches more than I do now empty. Mine has lost a couple of inches since I put them on. Looks like my springs are a bit beefeir than yours, so you may settle quite a bit. I think my shackles are longer than yours too.I've been on these springs for over 15 years, and I haven't flopped it yet. Drive it around with about 6 bags of cement in the back til it settles down to where you want it. John

I finally found what was wrong with 600 holley that was on my pig when i brought it.
The idle mixture screw created a pin prick hole in the metering block exposing the idel transfer circuit to fuel in the bowl !
Ill get some quick steel 2 morrow to fix.

Symptoms were running rough, very hard to start (no fuel in the bowl) and fuel dripping from the left hand front butterfly when the engine was switched off !

Figured out how to put the hood latch cable back into the hood latch. Incredibly, it's not as easy as you think it should be.
