That's the best "For Sale" ad that is not an ad. They are probably gone by now. But what a score.Any plans to put them up for sale?
A few of them will be shipped to the US soon together with a used 1HDT and a used 1HDTFTE . So far I haven’t listed any of them so all the ones coming to the US will be available . Pricing will be determined after shipping costs and tarrifs are known , shipping costs have gone up significantly and shipping routes are a bit of a clusterfuck at the moment with this war going on .Any plans to put them up for sale?
Tested my over-complex 2-at-a-time tire inflation system.
Larger hoses definitely reduced the amount of heat generated during the filling process.
Little compressor is happier too I think.
Drove to Warrenton to buy black powder.
Toyota oil gauge dropped out. Is there a ground point that is not behind the cluster that I should be looking for?
Dog can't stand the on-site shooting range.

Hey there, apologies for the delay. Here’s a picture of the top of my front shock to show the compression on the bushings. Looks similar to yours. Also, those suspension settings are for my Ute with no load and for street driving. Since I’ve listed those, I’ve backed off two clicks on the high speed compression and one click on the low speed compression. I have my tires set at 30psi on all four corners at 65DEG ambient which yield a nice firm but compliant ride on the street with minimal body roll in the corners. For off road, I’m airing down to 14psi and backing out two clicks of high speed compression. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Depending on what 70 series you have ( read troopy) a little more low speed compression will be nice to reduce the body roll with the higher CG.Thanks James.
I got your settings from your Sept 2025 post while searching through the forum. I will use these as a starting point (I know variables like weight etc makes a difference) and tune from there.

I do have one question. Installation instructions mentioned (in a video by Dobinson) to tighten the top nut on the front shock to the point where the black bushings should bulge out to the edge of the steel washers.
I tightened mine down to the point where I can't go any further but my bushings are not all the way to the Edge.
Care to share a pic of your installed front. I was thinking of using either using a metal washer or the alternate bushings they provided for a 4 runner / Fortuner.

Don't through the old one away. It can be rebuilt there's a thread on it in the 80 sectionCritique my Delco charcoal cannister install:
Put this in as my original had died, causing pressure to form in the fuel tank. Got this installed and while it’s bigger, it fits quite nicely. Took a test drive and no more whoosh when I open the fuel tank! Had to bend the factory mount bracket and use some zip tie engineering to hold it in place but given this t his cannister is plastic and weighs less than the factory one, it should be fine.

Thanks for the tip! I still have my old one and will give this a go.Don't through the old one away. It can be rebuilt there's a thread on it in the 80 section![]()
For those of us that don't delve into the dark arts, 2°C and 28°C = cold and not cold?Last night was spent at a little campground in Montana. It got down to 2°C overnight.

Tonight we arrived in Green River, Utah and it's 28°C. Tomorrow we see some more spectacular places that never get old.
Still dreaming of a 1hdt but the humble 1hz got me up and over countless grades today and didn't complain. Climbing to 2100m is a lot less stressful with a little boost, a lean tune and a disciplined throttle.
No critique, but a question. I've never had mine set up correctly. On yours the larger line is coming from the tank? And where does the smaller one go? I have a 1FZ-F too. Thanks!Critique my Delco charcoal cannister install:

Hello, here's the overview on where the lines go:No critique, but a question. I've never had mine set up correctly. On yours the larger line is coming from the tank? And where does the smaller one go? I have a 1FZ-F too. Thanks!
Thank you James! I took a trip down to Taos and couldn't get the gas cap off there was so much pressure. Luckily I could get the cap off the LRA aux tank and was able to fill that and pump to the main.Hello, here's the overview on where the lines go:
Stock Canister:
top large line comes from tank
top small line comes from fitting located at the bottom of the carburetor facing the valve cover.
bottom line exits to atmosphere down through the fender
AC Delco Canister:
top large line same as stock
top small line same as stock
bottom line not used. I left mine in place in case I switch back to the stock canister after I've rebuilt it. The AC Delco has no bottom line but has a top fitting that vents to atmosphere. I'm speculating that as regulations changed, they eliminated the allowance to have the canister vent from the bottom in case a large amount of petrol got pushed into the canister.
As a side note, when I did the initial diagnosis and established the root cause of the tank pressure to be the charcoal canister, I was shocked at how much vapor comes out of that line from the tank. Definitely not something I would want to go unmanaged in a confined space like the engine compartment.
Hope this helps. If you need any pictures showing the locations, just let me know.
Cheers, James
You might want to do a quick check on the vent line at the bottom. On my truck that was clogged too. That at least is an easy fix.Thank you James!
