@fireball. Understand he design now. I do like it and you are doing good work.

@beno. Warning, that light will blind you. Have a safe journey today my friend.

@1978HJ45. Still no need for a fire extinguisher yet ;). Gen 2 is the ticket!

No pics but spent 4 hours under the truck with a good degrease solution and a high pressure washer blowing 30 years off crap of her.
 :)

Of course you can ask! Before I answer let me ask you why the wider side would have to go on the right side? The only reason I could come up with is if you wanted into the right side drawer with only the right rear door open. Since that can't happen without first opening the left door I felt free to choose whichever side I wished.

My reasoning then was that I plan to put the heavy fridge on the right side. My current plan is to use the left side wide drawer with the heavy duty slides to hold the stove tools recovery gear and other heavy items. This helps to balance out the weight a bit. Also my propane tank is on the left door swingout so want the stove over there.

All that said I didn't glue anything together yet! So it can still be reversed and Id welcome any discussion onto the merits of either. Half of the fun of doing stuff to the truck is envisioning how it'll be used and attempting to create ideal solutions for my particular style and type of use.

True, a narrow left drawer for sure. I am planning on building a drawer and my intent is to have a narrow drawer on the left. I know it is quite narrow but still usable, especially as an enclosed long arm rack. It would be nice to get in there without having to undress the whole back of the truck.

Why not have two equal-size drawers if it is necessary to open up the whole back?

I also installed my mag lite on the driver side seat slider. Look closely to see the extension bracket built by @Cruisin' so that my 6'2" tall self could actually drive the truck!

Got any better pics (there's a big blue thing in the way)? Is the weld at the front necessary? I've been thinking of doing something similar, but just flat bar and drill new holes through the slider.

@Borick - the welded part you see is the extension that @Cruisin' fabbed for me to move the seat back about 2". Apparently the target marker for these vehicles wasn't 6'2" tall Americans!

The mag lite mounts are simply screwed to the OEM slider rail. Drill hole. Nut and bolt. Vac up metal shavings. Put mag lite in place. Done!

Drove up to the top of Otay Mountain.

Somehow still only had a couple bars on my phone.

Imagined what a BJ74 limo might look like in one of the many mirrors along the way.

@fireball - thanks for the info. Got any pics of the extension itself without the mag lite in the way? :-) Wondering if the weld at the front is needed. Any other welding to mount?

Today? Just like yesterday and the day before and the day before that. I fought to try and stay ahead of the starlings that think the engine compartment is a fine place for a condo...

Your a good eman375 because I would have found a BB gun and disposed of the vermin after the first few days. :)
