Took a quick ocean view shot on our way out to hike Mt Tamalpais. That’s SF in the background.

My father and I (@Shyrock) took his 1993 KZJ78 Prado (5spd, diff locks, the whole 9 yards) out on the beach for the first time, much work has been done to it but it can now be his daily! After getting to drive it out there I'm now a bit jealous of his power steering, A/C, coil springs, and TURBO. It's going to be a great daily :)

A few weeks ago I did a shoot for BF Goodrich with the Troopy... felt good to drive up to our favorite road after staying local for the past few months. We finally finished working on our house so I'm going to start with the interior build out soon. That means ripping the interior out, degreasing the tub, Master Series coating the tub, and actually spraying the interior walls with OE paint since they're so beaten up from the car's previous life in Straya.

Very nice photos. Tried sending you a PM but your inbox is full...

Nice photo!

We bought our first land cruiser on our honeymoon-road trip back in 1991.

My wife's clothes kind-of date the photo, nothing says early 90's like pegged pants, scrunchy socks and teal.

BTW I think I still have that sweatshirt, don't still have the 40 though :(

Got around to mocking up my bumper sides on my '89 BJ73 (they need to be shortened because they were designed for long wheel base 70 series). I made copies of the side panels out of cardboard and then modified the lengths to fit.

I also noticed that the back plate does not sit anywhere close to flush with the frame. Also, there is no hole in the frame on the LH side to work with... Wondering if this will even matter once it is all welded up, though. This has turned into a much bigger project than anticipated due to all the modifications needed for a shorter wheelbase. The manufacturer, Coastal Offroad, told me it would be an easy bolt-on with minor mods. @Onur knows all about it...

Nice...
Did you do a 2" lift to fit those 35's? How wide are your rims?
I've got 17 rims... Hmmm...

No, it still had the clapped out suspension from when I got the 74 a few years back. I really need to order new leafs. I have some new shocks waiting to be installed. I think my right front shock blew (small puddle under the shock) after this trip so I guess in the coming weeks I’m going to replace everything. I’m going to do Dobinson’s heavy in the front and medium in the rear.

As far as my rims go they’re the FJ cruiser 17x7.5 which I think is a perfect size for the 35x10.5. I think with a 315/70 or a 35x12.5 would be too wide for these wheels

Wow... so in theory I should be able to fit these on the Troopy. However, my rims are 17x6.5, so perhaps a bit too narrow.

Although the 33x10.5 BFG's are always getting mounted to the FJ40 steelies that are only 5.5" wide...

Would you be willing to do a big favor and measure the actual, physical height/width of the tires mounted on your rig?
