I noticed today that Google used this image for the shop....

Ha! I had to check, and this is the one they used for my house:

Started work on my new rear bumper. Original bumper was cosmetically good but structurally weak. Could not use a high-lift on it without completely deforming it. New bumper will be 2x4 .125 wall with rock sliders to the rear fender well. Receiver hitch will be welded bottom center. Will try to have some angled corners so it doesn't look too boxy. Style will have to follow function with this one. I need some space for swing out tire and equipment carrier I also need to be able to climb on it and jack it. So it won't be as low profile as some of those sexy rock crawler rigs. Got the basics tacked together today. Angle trimming full welding and detailing tomorrow. Grinding and painting by Sunday. Pics later.

Had a small tear in the common spot on the driver side seat.

I got these faux leather seat covers, the color is pretty darn close to my 92 HZ. For only $23, I was quite pleased.

Do you charge per piece or by the pound? :D

Bumper taking shape. The bj73 is from Spain so it has those goofy blacked out lights on the back corners. Tail lights brake lights and turn signals were mounted in the bumper. I was going to mount the factory lights as is inside the new bumper, but they are too deep to fit. I'll do some surgery on the lights use only the original lens and lamp sockets and configure them into the bumper. I intend to have Jack mounts fuel can mounts etc.. covering up the original blacked out lamps on the corners.

One of these days I'll buy another plug in the wall welder. I'm using a ready welder spool gun with fluxcore wire run off 24v battery bank. Welds are not as pretty as I would like. I am however quite happy with the new $165 eBay plasma cutter.

It will run 120 or 220/240. On 120 it will go to 35 amps and pop the breaker after cutting more than a couple inches on .375 plate. On 220 it goes to 56 amps and cuts no problem. I use a dryer plug adapter to run off 220. .25 inch or less is easy on 120, but a long cut on .25 may pop the breaker.

I have a small 110V deal that is meant for sheet metal and can sometimes cut 1/8".
It has a built in compressor so it is very portable.
Awesome tools.

I was looking on line for a budgety high clearance rear bumper. I stumbled upon a picture of what i thought looked like a very practical solution. Just a couple peaces of 3/16” angle and flat bar cut and welded together. A day for the paint to dry and boom.
A classy lookin rear bumper. Just made from junk i already had layin around. Getting rid of that flimsy oem rear bumper gained me about 2 1/2” inches of additional rear end clearance.

A little refresh for Jenny.

My hood had some paintless dent repair done to it before I bought it and in fact I think @theferg had the work done when he was moonlighting at Cruiser Outfitters. They did a decent job but the structure under the hood was a bit tweaked and worse yet, the clear coat was peeling quite badly the last year, I suspect the hood and fenders had been repainted at some point in their life. We've been working with a new local shop called Tenacity Overland on various Cruiser projects. They are autobody professionals by day and run their build shop nights/weekends. We worked out a deal to send the BJ74 with them for a few weeks, with plans to have it finished and back by Cruise Moab. Well, that ship sailed (no Cruise Moab) but they were spot on with their timing and had it back to me last week. The cleaned up the hood, re-glued the reinforcements under the hood, re-shot paint on the hood, cowl panel fenders and aprons and put in the new fender to apron W/S while they had it apart, my old stuff was popping out so I sent them with some new pieces. We replaced the antenna, w/s washer nozzles and holders, hood cushions & bumpers, the washer hose, clips and fittings and the hood insulator and clips. Feels like a new Cruiser :D

I like the look of my new rear springs so much I ordered new front springs from Cruiser Outfitters.
I always talk to Bryce when I call the shop and he is very helpful.
Bryce is very good at politely determining if I know what I am talking about or not.
He makes sure I get what I need, not what I think I need.
