What did you do on your 70 series today? (38 Viewers)

It definitely does make a difference having that barrier installed.

Yeah I don't have the vapor barrier at all on that door. That would explain the cold air coming in. I though it was on there, upon pulling back the corner there is ZERO barrier. That will probably fix the cold air issue.

EDIT:
6783160070 is the vapor barrier part number. Better get that ordered.

Damn. One more thing to add to my latest Partsouq cart.

Picked this up today, $40 for the pair. Got to get them cleaned and then it should be a straight forward fit.

Did you ever install these seats? If so, how did you do it? I wonder if the BMW seat brackets made by torfab will work in a 70 series also.

I have the exact same pair sitting in my garage. Maybe it is time to see if they work or get rid of them.

I just bought some steel yesterday to make brackets!

Took my fuel tank to school's boiler room to get super hot water and clean.
Used that purple degreasing liquid. Yu can see the spot welds where I was using welded on studs and a slide hammer to remove a big dent. I ripped a hole in it with that thing and had to weld over it..

Top of the tank has surface rust and what seems to be a trail of solder applied at some point.
1 3/4" household drain plugs just barely seal the large tubes and holes.

Next project: new steering system.

I’ve already replaced the pump. Gear box was original, leaking and I was done with the hard steering effort and sloppiness in the gear box.

Ordered a new OEM unit. RHD. Interestingly enough, the gear box part number was a reverse supersession: meaning the most recent iteration was 44110-60392. But it’s not available and reverse supersedes to -60390. Very rare that you see that from Toyota.

It’s a beautiful unit.

A new intermediate shaft with rag joint for the input of the steering box.

I am going to replace the second shaft that goes through the firewall when I replace my steering column with a tilt steering unit. This winter hopefully.

Totally rebuilding both axles, changing gear ratios, and adding front and rear ARB air lockers. This process will remove all of the used mining crap that was previously installed by Proffitts.
It's a slow, expensive process but hopefully all of these baby steps will someday equal one giant leap and the Ute will be entirely de-Profitt-ized.

I am looking for a 16x7 with backspacing at 3.5" or maybe 4". That is like zero offset I think.
