Trying to debate the FREE vs BAD CO thing, and Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'"" vs Animals' "House of the Rising Sun" for best organ rock song.

But then.........Grand Funk's "some kind of wonderful" goes 2/3's throughout the tune with just drums and bass, making you crave the organ that comes in for the outtro. Powerful stuff.

Playing some tunes while trying to work

Loving the computer/jukebox combo Beats audio in an HP computer. Heather hooked me up with unlimited data ;)

Started at the shop with Tower of Power. Yes, it was hip.

Working through Anthrax's Return of the Killer A's now. Great trip through their catalog. It's great for a laugh in parts and great to teach these damn kids how to play metal in others.

Next up will be Dave Clarke Five's Glad All Over or Candlebox depending on if I want to sit through 26 super happy, upbeat songs or not.

2 classics on the drive to work. I have a short drive. ;)

Steely Dan's Deacon Blues
The Door's Riders on the Storm

I guess comments on another thread got to you. ;)

Maybe a little different taste than some of you guys...My work drive (1.5 hours) consists mainly of Deftones, CLUTCH, Pantera, and a little Journey thrown in for good measure!

Let's talk technology for a second. How do you enjoy your music?

I typically use just one option, streaming with Pandora or Spotify.
  • Pandora - the music algorithm is very good but the ads on the desktop and mobile phone are annoying and limit skipping. Pandora on my Sony Bluray is fantastic and it will typically run all day with only one or two ads. The selection is good but can start repeating on some of the more niche genres.
  • Spotify - Loads of user control. Fast forward, rewind, skipping with no penalty, custom playlists, radio, album selection, etc. The drawback is that the music algorithm is not as good and the web interface has numerous bugs. Spotify has a larger selection, in theory, but I question what those millions of titles are.

I have bluetooth in both the Landcruiser and GTI and will connect Pandora/Spotify for the ride. I also have a bluetooth speaker which also works quite well.

For me CD's and MP3's are a hassle. I have no need to buy and own music when I can borrow it for free. I have approximately 2G of MP3's but currently don't know where they are. If I did find them, I would probably just delete them. The variety that Pandora/Spotify offer beats them easily and I can change my music selection at the click of a button without searching for that CD or MP3 playlist.

I wanted to post this to both inform others and possibly get ideas for myself. I learned about Pandora and Spotify years ago from friends at work when I was listening to MP3's and CD's.

You need to come to CLT... Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity and The Shrine at Amos' Southend 10/7/15. Not going anywhere else in the area. Great club in downtown CLT. Approx 1000 capacity, no seats, 2 levels. And where the hell are you commuting to for 1.5hrs?
