Well my Monday didn't start the way I was expecting it to. I was sitting at a stop light yesterday morning on my way to work when got rear-ended by a car moving at high speeds. The car hit me so hard, it it opened my sunroof shade and blew my sunglasses off my face. I wasn't able to find them until I got back in to drive away... You read that correctly, I drove away, while the other two were taken away on flatbeds.

I spent most of the day talking to insurance and then drove over and got a quote from a trusted autobody shop that has experience working on Toyotas.

It sucks to see my girl in such rough shape, but I've already talked to the autobody shop about allowing me to drive her away after the repairs without the plastic bumper cover. I figured after this ordeal, she deserves a Slee swing-out.

To anyone running Slee's rear bumper and no drawers, what OME springs are you using?

Glad you are ok! Stories like this make me forget about the $ and be glad that my family rides in a LX!

Wow... I've had one accident (not my fault, a guy saw my blinker and passed on the left anyway) where I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The impact knocked me out of my seat (3/4 ton van) but was able to pull myself back into the seat and steer us into a ditch and miss a culvert. I haven't driven without a seatbelt since 1981...

I'm glad you're ok. I'm guessing "someone" was "distracted". Not judging... been there too many times myself.

Glad you're okay- scary stuff!

Glad you're okay! I would say she definitely deserves a swing out. What damages are you dealing with? Cosmetically it looks like just a new bumper, mudflap, and tailgate and you're good to go.

Glad everyone's okay, sorry to see your rig take a hit like that. Let us know your thoughts on the Slee!

Man, the WRX driver got pasted. Glad you faired well with it. Sucks that it looks like the Scooby Doo popped up high enough to barely get your tailgate.

Well done buddy, basically nailed it. Tail light is cracked and the upper hatch is missing some paint. The rear quarter panel is warped and needs to be massaged back into shape. They will be measuring the frame to make sure it isn't bent and they need to replace the rear bumper lateral support too.

That tow bar is a beast, pretty much took the brunt of the force. Now I need to relocate my schrader valve for my airbags, hah! Its smashed back in there pretty good right now.

That's what happens when a tin can hits a fully boxed frame and tow hitch.

Typical little cosmetic damage to the Cruiser when something smaller hits it. I'd be surprised if it's totaled. There don't appear to be any creases or deformation in the rear panels.

Yea, its definitely not totaled, far from it. They are measuring the frame as a precaution. It's possible, with how hard they hit me, that the driver's side moved a bit. Most likely not the case, but good to check.

Glad you're okay!

To answer your question, I've got the Slee rear bumper with both swing outs (no drawers), running OEM shocks and OME 865s with spacers in the rear. Had 865s before the Slee rear, installing it made the rear droop about an inch, but the spacers did the trick.

I'm happy to report that I have to 100 back again!

I picked the truck up on Thursday from the body and paint shop. On Friday over lunch I drove down to Golden and picked up the bumper from Slee and Friday evening, with the wife's help, we installed the bumper (my wife's a badass btw, haha).

On Saturday we went up and out to escape the heat (it was 82 in Fort Collins!) and to put some dirt on the new rear end. The at fault party's insurance dicked me around a bit, but in the end it all worked out in my favor. All's well that ends well, they say. I couldn't be happier.

(Ignore the open gas cap... just letting the gas evap system breathe at high altitudes. Was gurgling because I filled up before heading out)
