I will look into the the voltage numbers this afternoon. Thanks for the information.Yes please post real measured voltage numbers at the battery terminals.
Voltage will vary with loads and temperature. When cold, you could see voltages as high as 14.5. Usually constant running above 1500 rpm and warmed up, you should see 14.0-14.1. If it's really hot, as low as 13.8.
True resting battery voltage, means it's disconnected from all loads, left overnight, and then measured. It should be 12.6 - 12.8 depending on exact battery chemistry.
Thanks for the response. I will check into this. You need to check with a voltmeter.
Can not go by the guage.
The Voltage should be up to 14.2 when charging after stsrt and settled on 13.8 while running at constant state. you can only get to 14.2-4 if your battery is in good shape. battery that has run down, can’t absorb at 14.2 and will show Lower charging voltage. None of this can been seen with the gauge.
Hope this helps
Great to hear. Thanks for the response. My stock 1996 80 alternator regularly runs at 14.6+ volts (off idle) measured via the OBD2 port (same voltages measured with 2 different scan tools). My AGM battery likes it.
And, FWIW, I've had a few 80s, and that's where the voltage gauge runs on all of them.
Doesn't sound to me like you have/had any problems.
I got one from Photoman about a year ago, sometimes it seems he has a few on the shelf, sometimes he doesn't. Anyone written to him recently?
I use to live on mIRC is that the same thing? Back in my counter-strike days. (early 2000's) I actually know a pariah from these boards irl from those days. Brian from exile. Great guy I spoke with him last summer about the install I am doing in my fj80. Still doing business in the marine sector. Great tech, great human, awful cs player.Actually IIRC that is how I got in contact with Photoman, sent him a pm (now called "Conversations", click on the envelope icon top right of the page), he then sent me mailing instructions.
