WOW....I didn't realize THIS ^^ was going to happen with a new H55F.

Maybe I did and neglected that info.

The H55F for the 3B iteration has been discontinued for quite sometime. The input shaft is not available in NA either.

Akella can procure the input shaft from abroad.

It all happened during your recent migration and you likely had one or two other things on your mind.

I was unaware that the input shaft was available or I would have ordered that too.

Just got my t-case kit today from TPI so I have stuff I can do tonight. I gotta get the front axle back together so I can re-jig the garage for a drivetrain swap. Three 40 series, a work bench and a canoe in a two car garage makes for a maze of narrow passageways.

and a one off inner tub for a local restorer - way too expensive for the average joe and way too much work to produce in any meaningful quantity

Man that one off inter tub is nice! And even your photography seems to be getting better  nice closeups. :p

Thanks Gus

Got the o-rings today!!

Back at it last weekend

Ok, where was I?

Oh yes, O-rings and T-case rebuild kit. While I was waiting for these to come in I robbed the 40 series top plate assembly off of my stalled and re-directed 45 build. I replaced it with the brand new one as I have to cut the red cover anyway for the toybox.

I apologize to all those who are forever searching for that cover.

I also picked up the bolts and bits for the plater. So that meant I could mount the bell housing and the front t-case.

You have to rob this slinger thing off of the stock gear and use it on the idler for the 4:1 set
IMG_4279.webp

Don't forget this tin piece either. I'm not sure what it does but I think it helps prevent oil from exiting the case through the breather..... but I dunno.

Random shots of fitting the gears. And the mess I call my garage.

I think I posted a pic of the bearing holder thing and the ear that was broken off. It was scored pretty good by being able to rotate back and forth so I had to weld on another ear.

With that fixed and ready the front output shaft went in with the 2to4 shift fork and gear.
IMG_4293.webp
And the seal
IMG_4294.webp
All the gears in. If the rear output shaft won't go in all the way you probably have to wiggle the 2to4 lever to drop the last 5mm.

new hi-low shift lever seal

I've done this a little differently than the FSM suggests. I already put the rear o-ring on the idler shaft as you can see above. I am also building this with the tranny standing upright. That means I need to be extra careful with both the o-ring as it enters the rear case and the rear thrust washer to make sure it stays keyed in place. I also had to wiggle the hi-low shift lever into position at the same time.

Thrust washer glued in place with grease.
