I've had to do the same thing , no worries . If nothing else , I've had to tape up one end with a slight slit cut into the tape , wrap a rag around the pipe to be welded and hit the purge timer on the Dynasty to fill the tubing from the opposite end . If the gaps are tight it will hold the purge inside nicely .
Look at HTP in Chicago - http://www.usaweld.com/Dual-Flowmeter-with-Backpurge-p/dualflowmeter.htm , they carry a decent dual flowmeter which works a lot better than a y fitting . I ran my exhaust basically straight back with the exception of a Magnaflow 10" long glass pack , all in 2.5" pipe . No real bark , just a sweet growl all the way up and way quieter than expected . Figured it would sound like a cannon , but almost the same level as the stock 4.0 Taco's exhaust .
